Need a recommendation: I'd follow DH anywhere but.....

I'm sick of getting lost with him.

So I'm buying him a Navigator for xmas. [So is that really a gift for HIM???]

RECOMMEND YOURS if you use one??? I don't get it - they seem to run from $99 to $1000!!!!!!

we just got a tomtom....my DH mostly uses it, but he loves it. I think it was around 300

Aww wish I could help but we use our phones. If you have verizon its ten bucks a month to have the navigator in your phone;same idea as the stand alone ones. Plug in your destination and it will either say it aloud to you or you can read them yourself. Its helped us more than a dozen times getting unlost since we got it.

Dh got me the Garmin Nuvi last year...i LOVE it!!! I can't read a map to save my life...it also has a database of stores, transportation, malls, etc...we've used it all over the North East so far!

i have a garmin street piliot not sure which model, theres 2 that are very simialar mine and then the model that says the street name instead of turn right in 100 feet(mine displays the name on the screen)... but my friend has it and says half the street names aren't said correctly anyway and it also has a traffic thing built into it, where you pay for a subscrption every month and then it tells you the best way around accidents.. we got the one without those 2 features and its great I got it last christmas! it was and still is around the $300 mark give or take a few sales.

I swear by Garmin. If you want a basic, they are about 350ish. Bluetooth is a little more and their best model is about 900. My ILs have a Magellan and that thing confuses me (and I am good with direction!)

if you're looking for a basic get you from A to B, get the Tomtom. I just got it and luv it and it's onsale at Best Buy this week for $139 from like $279. And I have a 10% coupon (FM me and I'll send it to you if you want). It works like a charm. Nothing too fancy, but it's not a cheap gadget either. My sister has the Garmin which is more $$$ but I haven't found anything different yet. Good Luck!

the cool thing about it too is it's portable - so u can take it out of the car to keep it safe, and u can use it on foot! i've used it walkin around cities so many times! it's fabulous - i swear the best buy rep actually reccomended that one over the more expensive ones...AND we got it on sale

I got a GPS for DH this xmas too and it was this one. My dad did all the research and this was the best deal. We got it in P.C. Richards on sale for $250 this week.

btw- and this goes for everyone who has one of these.. DH is a cop and they just got some training on the thieft that is going on with these things...
They say, don't leave the mount in the window when you leave your car parked, and if you can rub the ring off the window that it leaves, they have seen a huge # of cars broken into lately since were all annoucing that we have one someplace in the car.

Excellent point Heather, I think I'm going to mount it directly to DH's head.

And through your suggestions and Consumer Reports, I'm going for the Garmin 350, it looks like the best overall for us. I'll hop out to Best Buy tonight and pick it up. Whew... now on to the stocking stuffers!!!!!

We have the Garmin and we LOVE it!! I also bought DH the dash mount, this enable you to place the Garmin on your dashboard, this way you to do not have to use the suction mount for the window...the ease of it was worth the extra $50!!
