Need good places to shop for a wedding dress in NYC

My friend is getting married...she's having a destination wedding and she lives in the city...she wants to start dress shopping...any recommendations???? I plan on going with her...woohoo...and i only shopped on LI...TIA!

she said she didn't like their you must do this & that policy on their website...haha...she also called Bridal Reflections i think & they wanted a $50 deposit on a credit card...she's like...what the hell?

RK Bridal. That's where I bought my dress..... 39th St. bet. 8th and 9th Aves....

Definitely try RK Bridal.

Also, you can go to Macy's Herald Square to the Demetrios Bridal Salon on the 8th Floor. They have such a variety of gowns - I'm sure she could find a destination wedding dress there!

Thanks ladies! She is making an appt for RK for Monday...and she is heading to Macy's with her MOH tomorrow...

I don't think you can make RK appointments. you have to sign-up at the door and wait.... BUT, on a monday, she shouldn't have too much of a problem.... Do double check to make sure it's open on Mon's, though....

Yeah, a lot of places want deposits so that you actually show up to your appointment. You don't get charged if you make it. Not a bad policy, just annoying!

Try looking for some smaller boutiques in the city!

I bought my dress at Priscilla of Boston on LI, but they now have a store in the city which I went to with a friend and it is just as nice. I also really like Mark Ingram Bridal Atelier, though the selection wasn't as big, the atmosphere was really relaxing. Places like Kleinfeld and RK Bridal, which I know are great places to get a dress really overwhelmed me so I went to smaller shops.
