So I got my pro pics back from my photographer about 2 weeks after the wedding. I am ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE with them. But here's my problem.....there's a little over 1,500 of them and each of them is at least 6 MBs...he gave them to me on 3 CDs but like I said, each file/pictures is so friggin huge that I can't even upload them to my computer....I mean, I can, but it takes forever. My computer is only a year old and I think we bought it with a decent amount of memory.
Does anyone have any ideas about what I can do? I can't even email them to people or even upload them to Kodak Gallery....or even post them there, I try to upload them to my album and it says too big. Is there a way I can 'compress' pictures...? Or is there something I need to buy for my computer, like do I just need more memory.....?
I feel like I'm fairly computer saavy but I'm stuck with photos that I can't even show anyone.

Re: Need help with my pro-pics.....
you need to take like 10 shots at a time and resize them - i use photoshop but you could even do it on any photo editing software. OR try to upload them on photobucket and resize it there.

I don't have photoshop on my computer at home.....the computer did come with this HP photosmart thing......I wonder if I can use that to re-size them....I use it to edit pics I take with my crappy digital camera...like it can do black/white and take red-eye out and stuff...... Does re-sizing decrease the MB size? (if that's a dumb question I apologize in advance )

Re: Need help with my pro-pics.....
this is the easiest most userfriendly re-sizer out there.... here's the link
after u down load the program, u should see it on ur desktop...u just open up whichever photo u'd like in the program...one ur photo is open, just click 'image' then 'resize/resample'...then click 'set new size' and just make the numbers smaller (to post on liw the largest of the two numbers usually has to be under 600)...and by changing the larger number it'll automatically change the other to proportion...then u click ok, and then make sure u save it... i made a whole 'resized photos' folder on my computer that way i wasn't replacing the existing hi-res photos....just renamed them & stuck them in there that way i had the resized ones, plus the large files as well..
hope this helps - if u have any questions let me know!

I'm going to try this once I get home, I'll let you know if I have any issues with it. Thanks so much!

We have Microsoft Office Picture Manager at home. We're able to resize using that. Not nearly as fancy or detailed as some of the others out there, but it definitely resizes.

Ooh, good to know, thank you. I probably have that I'm thinking, since I have the office suite.....?
I'm going to play around tonight and then hopefully I can post some of them soon!

Re: Need help with my pro-pics.....
i used this program to resize all of my pictures at once:
it was AWESOME. you upload entire folders and in minutes they are all resized to 'normal' sizes to share online. it was the absolute best! def recommend it
