We stayed at The Park Central for my bachelorette party. It was nice. Definitely stay on Ocean. Its right on the strip. I have stayed at The Colony also and both are nice.

Re: Need recommendations on hotels in south beach...

i went to south beach with my girlfriends a few years ago & we ended up switching hotels. we did not like the hotels in south beach (at least the ones we could afford!) & we ended up at the most beautiful hotel a few minutes away in bal harbor. its on the beach, very luxurious, and walking distance to the bal harbor shops (very upscale & fun to walk around). we took a cab to south beach for dinner & drinks every night.

beach house at bal harbor

sometimes they have rates as low as $125.
they also have two hotels in south beach.
