Sooo... ever since the whole pregnancy and miscarriage stuff... my hormones must have been knocked completely out of wack and it's taking it's toll on my face!!!!
I have to make a dermatologist appt and I have a great one. but in the meantime... can you recommend your skin care regimen?
I had good skin as a teen.. then in my early 20's I had some cystic pimples and went on Accutane. I didn't complete the full 6 months (probably about 4) and I had to stop because I couldn't get to brooklyn anymore for the appts. it worked but a year later I had to go back on it.... that time completing the full 6 months and I was clear ever since then. I can't go on Accutane now.. bc we are currently 'trying'.
AND I have developed an allergy to BENZOYL PEROXIDE from using Proavtiv for a few years... so i can't use anything with Benzoyl peroxide or that salyic acid stuff. I need more natural products please.
I don't know what to do anymore. My skin is TERRIBLE!! With little signs of it getting better too. I look at HM pics from just November and it's almost devastating because that was NO MAKEUP and my skin was SO CLEAR!!!!

Hun... My derm actually told me to begin to wash my face and body with... and this is going to sound NUTS but its totally working....
Head and shoulders...
yup!
The acne went away! Its something about the zinc... I would try it before anything else. I didnt believe it but i brought it up to my cousin and she said she used a body wash with zinc and so i thought it was worth the try :)

Re: NEED SKIN HELP.... PLEASE
Hmm...all the products I use are pretty much peroxide or acid based, so won't help you. I used the Philosophy acne kit, but stopped because it was very expensive, then switched to the AcneFree kit which is like a proactive knockoff, and that worked good for a while until I built up a tolerance, now I'm using the Neutrogena acne cream cleanser with the lotion portion of the AcneFree kit I still have leftover...it prevents huge breakouts, but still doesn't work.
I've just resigned myself to having acne till the day I die. Wish I could have been more help.

I still get acne and I'm 30. It's horrible. Since I don't have insurance at the moment, I've been using Dr Murad system at sephora. I will still get the occasional period pimple but it's really toned down everything. The treatments are Salicylic and Sulfur based. I would try it and if it doesn't work within 30 days, return to it Sephora. They have a really good return policy.
I never had to use Accutane but i was on oral meds, Bactrim, in conjunction with Differen Gel and Benzyol Peroxide, when I had insurance. So as you can see, I had it pretty bad.

Re: NEED SKIN HELP.... PLEASE
My skin is very sensative so use Dior face wash and toner seem to work well for me. I used pro active in the past it worked for a while but it was so strong it was causing red blotches on my face so I stopped using it. Also, check what make up you are using especially if you are using liquid fondation. It may also be contributing to the break outs. I changed my make up and it really helped. I use bare minerals instead for foundation. Good luck.

Re: NEED SKIN HELP.... PLEASE
Try wahing your face with antibacterial soap...my dermatologist recommended Lever 2000. I had alway been told NOT to wash my face with soap but it helps...I am currently using a perscription face wash for Rosacea that is sulfur based it works well for acne as well but it is perscription it is called Rosaderm. Oh and tea tree oil is great for pimples but use it at night because it smells medicinal and sort of bad but it really works.
