Nervous about TTD in Mexico

So the correspondence was super on point and attentive....and like some vendors once paid dwindled down and was not as quick. Through our millions of e-mails back and forth it was decided to find a public beach in Cancun since resorts charge enormous fees for outside people or vendors to come onto the resort.

So now a few days before the shoot he is telling me we are going to use the beach at the resort. I am like I thought you were looking for a different place due to fees. And he is saying the beach is a public place so there should not be a problem shooting on the beach.

I sent final payment today...and I DO NOT want that day to come and the resort try to charge me these astronomical fees. So now I am not sure how to proceed. I am not dealing with someone right here who I can just go there or call or whatever.

So how do you ladies think I should proceed? Take the chance or insist on doing it elsewhere?

I would call the resort and ask, I know my resort and the resort my photographers stayed at, both charge fees if you use their resort for photography

I've been googling around and from what I've read all of the beaches on the hotel zone are public beaches so you can do whatever on the beaches. It is just getting access to the beach. To walk through the resort you are walking through private property to get to the public beach. There are public entry ways to the beach but the closest one to our hotel is about a 1 mile away.

So they can't say anything about shooting on the beach...its in the resort or using anything that belongs to the resort. So it's just a matter of the photographer getting to the beach without a problem.

I just need to make sure I have a way to contact the photographer once we arrive in Mexico and the day of since we have only bee corresponding through email.

Re: Nervous about TTD in Mexico

you might have to get a day pass for the photographer and if thats the case Id make them pay
but Id call the hotel, you dont want to the day to come and youre not able to shoot and youre scrambling around for a beach

i put an international text message plan on my phone and i contacted my photographer by text only- much cheaper than talking on the phone
