'you know...I just saw a magazine about engagement and 'things to do before you get engaged'. Honestly...I found it silly. OF coarse women hope for the day the man they love proposes to them...but planning it out and buying magazines about it and researching it in advance? doesn't that take away from the excitement and the 'special moment' factor?'

I don't think its silly - I think there are a lot of girls on here who 'stalked' the boards for months before they got engaged (myself included) while they waited to offically be engaged.
I don't think its horrible to give these girls a place to talk about it - I'm sure my friends were sick of hearing me talk about waiting to be engaged, and I kind of wish I had somewhere else to talk about it.
I don't think they need to necessarily be 'planning' their weddings and researching, so much as just talking about it and what not.
JMO though I get what you are saying if they were like - booking vendors before they got engaged - unless it was a special situation, that would be a little much in my opinion.
