New Home Owners Roll Call

It sounds like there are a bunch of us moving in the next couple of weeks. I have lost track of who where and when. I am sure we will have a bunch of questions flying back and forth so lets do a roll call. Ill start

Fran & John - closing 1/22, moving 1/27 to Wantagh

Ok Ladies how is the packing going?
Any tips other than just do it. Tomorow is going to be a marathon packing day for me.

We are using a color coding system. I bought a bunch of colored labels and have assigned a color to each room. I am also writing the contents on the box.

I am also using clear plastic recycling bags for some stuff like large baskets and decorative stuff that wont work in boxes. I will probably use them for clothes as well. One bag for each drawer and then into the box so unpacking will be easier.

We are doing pretty good with the packing. I have about 3/4 of it done. I just used regular boxes and marked them, very detailed with what is in them. I also marked them what room.
We went through a lot of stuff and threw out a lot of things, and got a good 4/5 full big bags full of clothes for donations.
Don't you just love packing?
This is it, I am never moving again. It is our 3rd time in 4 years. I am getting very good at packing, but I am so sick of it

Hey Fran, we're using a color system too. I suggest you put a label on each room with that rooms color to help out the movers. That way they just match the color on the box to the color on each room.

Also my mom suggested this one...since most movers don't make you take anything out of your dresser but you don't want movers to see your panties, put your sheets on top of your panty drawer. That way it covers your panties AND you know where your sheets are so you don't have to search for them the night you move in.

We brought packing stuff at a local storage place. $100 on boxes- yuck!!!

I was very lucky on packing material. I was responsible for moving my company this past summer. I called the moving company I used to get a recommendtion for a residential mover and they Gave me a Ton of moving material.

So does anyone need bubble wrap???? They gave me a roll that is the size of a truck tire. There is no way we can use it all.

Fran, if you're looking to dispose of some boxes after your move, I would take them off your hands and use them for my move. Just let me know...I am in East Meadow, so I can come pick them up.
