Newlywed Picnic/BBQ GTG Site?

Hi, Everyone!! I am in the process of getting ideas for the Newlywed Picnic/BBQ GTG which will happen July or August 2008. I want to know if we should have this GTG in Nassau County or Suffolk County. If you could give me your opinions and ideas of what parks we could have it at that would be excellent.

Maybe at Belmont Lake State Park? It's right off of the S. State and it's on the border of Nassau & Suffolk...

OMG I was just going to suggest that. We have a BBQ there every year. And maybe we could convince more hubby's to come to play the ponies! And there is a playground for the kids! I love this suggestion!

Belmont Lake State Park, or even Eisenhower Park. Either works for me, and my husband and 2 boys will be attending.

I live in Nassau, but I'd be willing to travel to suffolk. I'm so excited for this GTG! :jump

ETA: In addition to the parks already mentioned, there is Wantagh Park. I went to a BBQ there once. I'm not sure how convenient that is for everyone though?

Since the website is LIWeddings AND NYCityWeddings we have brides from all over Long Island, the five boroughs and even Jersey, Westchester, etc.

I think it would be best if it were in Nassau and not too far so that it could be a half way point for everyone (and not make any brides unable to make it simply because of location). Some Suffolk locations can be 2 hours away from NYC or Jersey.

i agree - nassau is probably best :) i'd travel out to suffolk - but i think for most that nassau would be easiest

I agree because I'd love to go but Im coming out from NJ. Even if i go to my parents house day of, its still a haul for me from the bronx and like Yesi said, the boards are NYC and LI Weddings so should be a halfway point for everyone.

I love the idea and I would vote for Nassau seeing as I'm so close to Queens.

Great idea Charlotte! I live in Suffolk now but used to live in Queens so I would go with Nassau for the bbq site. It really would allow more people to come! Eisenhower Park and Belmont Lake State Park are great ideas that are easily accessible by parkways!! HTH!
