Re: Newlyweds: How was your Thanksgiving?

We are actually having Thanksgiving dinner today because my DH worked yesterday. We are at his sister's upstate & my in-laws are here. I rode up here with them. Having a great time so far. We are staying until Sunday.

Re: Newlyweds: How was your Thanksgiving?

Yesterday we went to my MIL's house. There was only 5 of us for dinner. Today DH and I are making our own turkey with trimmings, for my family to come over and enjoy. I am loving the whole 'married' for the holidays thing. Yesterday was the first time we went home together at the end of Thanksgiving. It was such a nice feeling. It was our 10th turkey day together, it was so nice coming home to 'our home'.

Re: Newlyweds: How was your Thanksgiving?

I should have voted for better than I thought, but it was actually excellent. Where is Swags to read this I had a heavy heart going in, b/c as everyone who knows my story, you all know how much I am loved by my SILs *insert sarcastic face here*

I went to do my volunteer work from 10:30 - 3:00pm (no one reminded me that the parade passes right by the soup kitchen that I go to. one block over from Time Square - due to the parade I had to walk over 2 blks and down one, just to get to one block) Pardon me I had an Anna moment there..LOL

I was hoping to God my husband would leave me and go to Connecticut with the clan, then I could go to a church sister's home for TG dinner, but no such luck, the man waited until I was done volunteering and picked me up. Oh the joy.

So, I said I will pray and try my bestest to go in to it with a good attitude, if only for him. Anyway I prayed and I listened to my gospel cd on my way there trying to psych myself up for the big oh my word why am I here, faking the funk. To my big surprise I had so much fun.

His extended family loves me, hey who wouldn't, you all do (PS they are not the ones that are cold towards me its his sisters)

My favorite cousin of his, even made me my favorite cake that she makes so well an entire pan all for me. I walked in and I greeted his mom, all his mother's sisters, wives, husbands etc. She introduced me around proudly to the family members that I had not met, oh this is Roger's wife, Even his sisters couldn't help but be nice to me. We sat around chatting and laughing and carrying on.

There were 54 people in attendance and only one not related by blood or marriage Food was good, the company was good I cannot wait for Christmas to do it at mom's house.

The only sad part was, my mother could not make it b/c her back was bothering her, she is home in bed

We got in at 1:30 this am and I had to get to work for 9 am oh well the day is almost over. So that is the story of my first Thanksgiving with the inlaws.

Re: Newlyweds: How was your Thanksgiving?

Mine was good again.
I hosted for the second year, about 14 people. But My MIL pissed me off. I know she is trying to help, and she asked what she could make. So she made her stuffin (THE BEST) and sweet potatoes. She normally makes her string bean casserole, but I wanted to make it this year and told her I was going to make it. I bought all the stuff for it, and she shows up making it, because her sister (jay's aunt) wanted HER casserole
Maybe Im being ungrateful, but I was more mad that she made it because Jay's aunt wanted HER casserole and NOT mine
Other than that it was just nice.

Re: Newlyweds: How was your Thanksgiving?

Ours was great, we had my family over our house. It was a bit hectic as we are getting ready to move, and so we have boxes everywhere, but family doesnt care and we all had a blast. Even when my mom demanded to see our wedding video, the one DH hasnt even watched all the way through with me But Mom won out despite the eye rolling from my Dad and DH, and we actually had a blast all watching it together. Our first Thanksgiving as a married couple was great

Well, considering I had a stomach virus, AWFUL, but I layed on the bed, and was catered to all day, so I would then say it was great! lol and I didn;t have to feel guilty about having eaten too much b/c all I ate was chicken broth..

DH had to work, so that stunk! But he did make it to my aun't house for dessert, so that was good. He's working again tonight, and I'm on here procrastinating instead of doing my school work!! Hope everyone had a Happy Turkey Day!

Re: Newlyweds: How was your Thanksgiving?

Im really happy about how everything turned out! The food was great - thanks to my wonderful chef husband. I did a few things too. Everyone loved the house and the food, everyone got along and nothing was broken or stained (my fear). My Mom even said she must have taught me well because she couldn't have done better herself.

Re: Newlyweds: How was your Thanksgiving?

shamma...your day sounds like TG as a child...50+ people (all related) in CT...

where in CT? I am getting nostaglic!!! My dad's entire family lives in Milford...right between Bridgeport and New Haven on the LI sound

as for us...it was a blast...we left early and drove up to Napa Valley...where we met LisaT and Al at a cute B&B....we went to a restaurant for dinner...had wine and cheese (I think we drank 4 bottles over the course of the night!! ) and played Cranium...

I had so much fun...

then sat we drove back down to San Diego on PCH!! and loved it...(although it took almost 12 hours!!!) DH and I feel like real Californians now...since we have seen so much of it this weekend!!!

(we actually think Val Kilmer was driving behind us for a little bit...)

ETA the best part!!!! DURAN DURAN TONIGHT!!!!!

Re: Newlyweds: How was your Thanksgiving?

We had a great Thanksgiving. Even though I was up at the crack of dawn cooking and baking it was still great to wake up next to my husband for our first thanksgiving.

We went to my parents house for dinner and then to my SIL's house for coffee and dessert. It worked out better than I thought. But we have decided that for the holidays we are just going to spend the whole day with one side. It was easy to go back and forth because our parents live only a few blocks away from each other.
