Newlyweds that lived together before the wedding

How were the first few months for you? For me it dosent really feel much different. We have lived together for 3 years and I don't know what to say when people ask how married life is. I say its the same! But now I get to wear a really nice wedding band!
I know its sounds stupid but I dont know what else to say

We lived together for 6.5 years before we got married. I don't think anything has changed except we get to say husband & wife!

Re: Newlyweds that lived together before the wedding

We lived together for a year before we got married. I think it was a great decision. We were comfortable with each other and had some routines by the time we got married. I think it made the 'honeymoon' part of everything better because we weren't yelling at each other about our bad habits anymore. We do the same thing when people ask how married life is; we say, 'No different.'

I agree with you both- for us its the same story.

I now feel like my inlaws, friends and others take us more serious as a couple. ( if that even represents change, not sure)
No transtion @ all, everything is the same.

Re: Newlyweds that lived together before the wedding

We lived together for about a year before the wedding and it was the best decision we could have made. We didn/t have to worry about moving everything in right around the wedding (as if you don't have enough to do). People at work asked me all the time how married life is. It feels like we have been married alot longer than 2 months because we 'lived in sin.'

We lived together for about 2 years before getting married. It DOES feel different though, oddly enough. I didn't think it would, but it does. It feels more like the real thing, rather than just being roomies with benefits
Things feel more settled now

Re: Newlyweds that lived together before the wedding

We lived together for about 3 years b/4 we got married. I am having a hard time settling down I don't know why, my DH on the other hand whom I thought would have a problem with this is very settled.

But I am starting to notice that things I thought I would never freak out over I do and the things I thought he would def freak out over he doesn't.

I totally agree with this. I never thought it would feel different either, but in some ways, it just does ..

Being 'settled' is the best way I can think of to describe it too

For us nothing on the outside changed. But there was something deeper and stronger emotionally after the wedding. I guess knowing that neither of us could just pack and leave so easily since we take our vows very seriously. I don't know how else to explain it. But there was something emotionally different!

Re: Newlyweds that lived together before the wedding

We've only lived together 3 months before our wedding date. We didn't move in together until 3 months before our wedding, although we've been together since December 1996. We were saving up our $$$. It certainly is much different than we were living with our parents. We have more freedom to do whatever/however/and whenever we choose/want to do in the comfort of our own home. However, we both had a lot of compromising upon merging our personal belongings and purchasing furniture as we both never furniture of our own (the furniture were our parents'). It has certainly been different living together than before we were dating, yes closer for the better.

IF ONE more person asks me hd life is, I may lose it. Its the same life it was 2 months ago, but like you said, I now wear TWO rings on that finger and I have a new last name.

Re: Newlyweds that lived together before the wedding

In all reality, not much has 'changed' we lived together for about 6 years before the wedding. It's been great and still is great, I just say when people ask, Married life is wonderful, not much of a big change or adjustment from before, but I think emotionally it feels even more special, like a higher level of contentment....
