Does anyone own a home in NJ or may be familiar with NJ real estate tax?
Me and DH are exploring our options and would like to know more about it. From what Im hearing tax is about 3% of your homes equity?

Re: NJ real estate tax
i am not sure if this is what you are talking about
the only tax that i can think of is when you are selling a home in nj the seller has a almost 1% fee they have to pay to NJ, But the buyer doesnt have to pay any kind of tax

Re: NJ real estate tax
ooo thats ok,
each town is different for property taxes, I live in Camden County , our house in 1800 sq ft and our lot is 1/4 of an acre and our taxes are $5100 a year. Thats less then 3% we bought our house 2 years ago for $219k
Unfornately i know in my area the taxes vary, we have friends that live in flanders NJ and there house in almost the same size if not a tab bigger and her lot in much smaller then mine and she pays almost $8k for taxes
if you are looking online at NJ most of the websites show you the property taxes
sorry there isnt a definate aqnswer

Re: NJ real estate tax
My aunt and uncle live in I think Bergen county. It's the one where all the stores are closed on Sundays. They pay just under $7k in taxes and they have a small home.

I live in Middlesex County and the taxes are between 6,000-7,000
so are all taxes in Middlesex based on the same rate? If so do you mind telling me what that might be?
