No Baby Fever for Me!!!

I have seen a lot of people on this site especially on the 06 board talking about TTC and their pregnancies.
Just wondering if I am the only one not TTC?

Same here........you are not alone!!

You are so not alone, but it's the big question I'm being asked now. I want some time to enjoy DH without any pressures. For years all I heard was 'when are you guys finally going to get married'. Now, it's behind us. My friends all have kids and if I spend time with them all baby-fever goes right out the door! Hang out with a 2 y.o. going through the terrible 2's, that will change anyone's desire to have kids. Seriously though, you have to enjoy your time together before the kids, b/c once they come there is no going back and anyone that will say having kids is all peaches and cherry's is not being honest. It's a lot of work and sacrifice. Very rewarding too from what I hear, but it's exhausting.

My new answer is, 'when it happens you are on the list of one of those who need to be told before the baby arrives'. I'm going to be a rare wacko that wait 5 months before telling anyone anyway (or as long as possible), I'm very private and don't want everyone knowing if I miscarry or anything happens. After the amnio comes back good then I'll tell.

Kinda yes and kinda no. I would loooove to have a baby right now but I know that DH and I are not even close to being financially ready for one. Plus, we want to enjoy married life for a bit. We are shooting for a year before we start trying...but that can always change

Its actually the last thing in the world on our minds, we are concentrating on building our new home, traveling, enjoying being married and loving every minute of it...

Ditto on all accounts! We have a cat and a betta fish and thats more then enough at the moment

Dh & i don't want kids...at all...all of my friends have them and it's just not for me.....i remember when i was young wanting them...but i enjoy traveling and having time to myself too much to have a baby...we have two dogs...that's enough responsibility for us! I am just tired of people acting like we are freaks because we don't want children.

I know a lot of people like you in the three village area.... you're definitely not alone, but I know your families will likely pressure you and make you feel like you are

well, we want kids.... but I had a late start at life since I only graduated grad school at age 31 and married at 35 . DH will only graduate in about 2 years.... BUT, that clock is ticking. we must find a reasonable piece of real estate and get out of the 1 bedroom apt soon! I'm hoping that will happen by next summer.........

Your not a freak at all! We live in manhattan and only haver a few friends who have kids and they all live upstate! We're so not digging the kid thing either at this point so your not alone

Dittos here! I never remember wanting kids tho; most of my close friends know this, but now that we're married people just expect us to get started, and a lot of people keep asking when we're going to. I just shrug. It's not worth getting into with acquaintances, because as HamptonsBride points out, people do act like you are a freak for not wanting kids.

Most of our friends have kids now, and when we go see them, it's nice to be an 'aunt and uncle' for a few hours then happily hand the kid back to the parent (usually as the kid is getting cranky and whiny) and go home to a nice quiet house (with our own baby Henry, our bunny ).

I'm all for people who adore kids and are ready to jump into that responsibility, its just not for us. so no baby fever here
