I feel like I should want a kid but I just don't. We've only been married 4 months so I know theres no rush but I'm not getting younger. I've been waiting for the 'baby fever' to hit but what if it never does? I never really liked kids too much ( i know that sounds mean, i guess I'm just not one of those kid people) But i feel like I'll regreat it if I don't have one & DH would probably have one with someone else he wants one so bad. Do you think it will hit me eventually? Thanks for listening to all my thinking

It may hit you, I know people who did NOT want kids at all, but now have them. It may just be that you have things you want first and then will do the family and parenting later. I dont have the baby bug full on, I want kids but Im not craving them

I wouldn't sweat it. I have no desire for children right now! I do have a desire for new shoes though! I love everyone else's babies! But I like giving them back!

i don't want kids...at all...so don't feel bad...i am not really a 'kid' person...and yes i know that makes makes me sound like some evil person...but i just don't have the patience & tolerance for them (especially ones that are not parented correctly)...and enjoy my freedom and traveling too much to give that up...DH feels the same way...

well i don't 'feel' evil...haha... it's more like people's reactions like there is something wrong with me for NOT wanting them...haha...i've thought about just saying i can't have them to avoid that 'how could you NOT want kids' reaction...

i like kids....in small doses. I have no desire right now to have kids. I'm young yet, we've only been married for 7 months, and with him being in the army its just too unstable of a life for me to bring a child into this world any time soon. A lot of my friends are TTC and all I can think is 'WHY???' I want kids eventually....but right now I feel like i'd rather spend time with DH, travel, buy a house, become more financially stable, and just enjoy being married. No little ones for us for at least 3 years!!!!

OMG I think that you and I must be sharing the same brain!!! For some reason I never was one of those people who particularly liked being around children and played house. DH would like to have a child but I just don't share his passion and interst for it and don't know if I will ever.

DH and I definitely want babies, just NOT now. We didn't live together before we got married so we like the idea of having some 'us' time for now and also we have debt to try to work down some. We also like to travel so I'd like to get a vacation or two before we start TTC because once the little ones come, it's all about them; travel and that stuff takes the back burner.
I originally wanted to wait 1 year and DH wanted to wait for 2 years to TTC. I think after our 1 year anniversary we'll see if we feel ready to start TTC and go from there. A few weeks ago I was feeling the baby fever, but I got over that quick, lol. Babies are blessings, but I just want to make sure I'm emotionally ready for them and hopefully a bit more financially ready too.

i'm with you! no baby fever for this girl or her DH. we are completely not ready! DH is still in school for his PhD and i'm much too involved in the music community out here. i'd have to give up too many gigs if i was preggo and i'm just not ready to let that go yet. plus, we like to take weekend get-aways, which would be come significantly harder with kids. once DH is done with school and we move back east, then we can start talking, but i don't want kids until i'm at least 30. . .still got 4 more years. . .

same here! every now and then when i'm around babies & mommies the fever hits for a second...but then i REALLY think about it, and it's just something thats so wonderful to look forward too...down the road lol. I think it's such an amazing thing, but we have time. i'm not in a rush

That is how I am too. For some reason when I came home from Disney, I had BabyFever for a Second. I know I am Not Ready Yet. Maybe in 2 years or so.

for the longest time i didnt have baby fever or even want to have a baby... then all of a sudden it just hit both of us... we are soooooooo having baby fever right now!!

don't worry, I don't think that just because two people get married that that means they have to start having kids right away. DH and I are planning to wait at least a few years so that we can have this time to just enjoy each other.
