I feel like I should want a kid but I just don't. We've only been married 4 months so I know theres no rush but I'm not getting younger. I've been waiting for the 'baby fever' to hit but what if it never does? I never really liked kids too much ( i know that sounds mean, i guess I'm just not one of those kid people) But i feel like I'll regreat it if I don't have one & DH would probably have one with someone else he wants one so bad. Do you think it will hit me eventually? Thanks for listening to all my thinking

No real baby fever here either.
I kinda want a baby....but then I REALLY think about it and realize that I like to play with them...but can't see myself taking care of my own
DH and I are right on the same page - we're thinking of having kids in 2-3yrs.

I totally feel the same way. I'm not ready to have kids yet. DH and I are having so much fun being married, and there are things we want to do before we have littles ones running around! I'd say our time frame is at least 1-2 years before we TTC!

i don't want kids...at all...so don't feel bad...i am not really a 'kid' person...and yes i know that makes makes me sound like some evil person...but i just don't have the patience & tolerance for them (especially ones that are not parented correctly)...and enjoy my freedom and traveling too much to give that up...DH feels the same way...
I hear ya Kath. While there is a part of me that loves kids and wants them, I have a lot of genetic history in ym family that Im not sure I want to pass on to a kid. Thats #1. #2, like you, I like my independence and even with a kitten, its sooo hard to do exactly what I want when I want; he is as needy as a child. Climbs up my legs when Im doing dishes because he wants to be hugged and kissed (WEIRD animal I tell ya ) and I get annoyed with him but I can somewhat ignore a crazy cat. I CANNOT ignore my 2 year old and in fact thinking about that age, as cute as they are, makes me break into hives. I worked as a pre-k teacher for a lil bit and wanted to hang myself. #3, I am very into 'good parenting' and it scares me that no matter how well DH and I might do with raising our kids, there is so much out there that can hurt them or negatively influence them. Not sure my hearts ready for that.
I plan to work with kids in some capacity and if we had the money in the future I'd want to try at least taking in 1 or 2 older foster kids-like the 7-11 year olds no one wants. I think I can be great asa mentior but not sure about mommyhood. DH feels the same way about Daddyhood.

Some days I do, some I don't....that's how I know I am not 100% ready to start TTC.
DH on the other hand has had it since October! LOL He cannot wait!!

Of couse you don't want a kid, a kid is a goat!!!! I pefer to say ' A Child '. And if your not ready, then your not ready. I didn't think I was with my first son, but the joy he brought me was priceless!!!!! And I feel the same with my other child as well.

seriously my life has just begun .. we are waiting a couple of years.. i want to have my first kid before 34.. its healthier that way..:) and i am 29 now.. so i have time :) I just have no interest either .. on top of that I teach so its like yeah I see and take care of kids all day.
