Well, since we got married I lost my aunt the day after we tied the knot. Four days after we got back from our honeymoon I lost my job, cut backs! My videographer takes off with our money and video, we finally got our video 3 months ago. I got a job and lost it in five months, cut backs again.
Every week that I am out of work the job marketing gets skimpier. It is so bad most weeks I have no jobs to send my resume to. I have gone through a short depression, but thanks to a friend I am doing better. My hubby actually bought me roses to try to make me feel better even for a few moments. If we didn't live in his mom's house (serperate apartment) we would not have a place to live.
I started college back in 99 and in Dec 2001 I got my associates in graphics. I can't find a job in my field, and now I owe $$$ in student loans. I guess I just need to vent. I feel like a nothing. That I am a horrible person and I am not worhty of anything.
The last 4 years have been very tough on me and hubby, but we will be ok. I just need help getting through this difficult time in my life. I did not even mention half of the other things that have happend. It is too much to write.
Thank you for listening to me.

Re: Not the greatest 8 onths of my life....(long)
Feel free to vent anytime. My life has not been the greatest since Sept. I got engaged Sept 13, and lost my job Sept 19. I was also going on vacation Sept 20. Great company I worked for
I started a temp job in december that I was told I would turn perm at and that was one big fat lie because the girl I was temping for came back to her position 2 months earlier then she said she would be out, she was suppose to be fired and she wasnt and they told me my time was up. I was then told a position would be generated for me and nope that didnt happen either.
My father was diagnosed with Diabetes. It runs in his side of the family and I lost both his parents to diabetes. He is the youngest member of the family to be diagnosed. A week later, I lost my grandmother (my dad's mom) and I never got to say goodbye to her. I couldnt get a plane ticket to FL and everything that was available was beyond realistic for a plane fare (and that was even with a bearevement cost)
I am in the same boat as you with jobs, its really tough. I've been yelled at by people, doors slammed in my face, phone calls hung up on me, interviews go terribly wrong and basically feel the same way you do. I have had days where I dont want to get out of bed, i let my answering machine take the calls, and i just get so depressed because FI and I have so much coming up and some days $$ is tight.
What gets me through all of this, my parents, my FH, my best friend, trying new things (I am trying a creative touch), reading, redoing the rooms in the apartment and the girls on here.
I try and take all the bad and put it towards positive stuff. Reading, arts and crafts stuff, going rollarblading, doing stuff around the apartment, buying flowers for myself once a week, taking leasurely walks, getting my nails done, and I am looking forward to going to the beach.
I know its hard and times do get tough, but be strong and positive. Dont worry, things will get better.
Feel free to FM if you need to vent.

I know you must here this all the time but hang in there, things hopefully & usually will only get better!
Sounds like you have a wonderful DH!!
I am so sorry for your loss also.
Maybe you can take a job other than what your degree is for, just for now, to make some money?

I would, but it does not look good when your in graphics to have a job other then that field on your resume. Also I have tried to get customer service positions and they tell me sorry, we don't want to give the position because if a graphics job comes up you will leave.

Try to be strong, there will be better days!
Are you from Astoria? I grew up there (I saw Mt. Carmel on your profile Thats my church!)
my husband was laid off right after we got married...and it was traumatic for the both of us...so I can feel your pain
look at the good things...
**no rent **a man who loves you and wants to make you happy **your aunt was around for your wedding day (I don't know if she was there that day...but I'm sure she knew it was happening) **an education
I know it is hard to see these things when bills are coming in, but there are jobs out there...be a waitress...its good fast money...and turnover is usually pretty high...so they won't think about you leaving...
vent whenever you want

I can't be a waitress
1. No experience 2. I hate working with food (worked with it before) 3. I have a bad back 4. My ankles swell if I am on them too long 5. I have epilepsy and I am not supposed to be under alot of stress. That is what triggers my siezures
My aunt didn't even come or reply to my shower invite.
Anna: actually it is our lady of mt carmel in patchogue ny

can you do something part time in an office. Its work so you'll be busy and making money and its part time enough for you to look for something in your field

if I take on a job part time usually they will not pay as much as unemployment. I can't even find a FT that will pay as much as unemployment.

I am sorry that you are going through this. Trust me when I say it will get better. We have been having a long run of bad luck and it seems things are finally starting to turn around.
Remember that you are valued and special. It sounds like you have the love of a wonderful man!
As someone once told me, count your blessings everyday even if it is something really small! I know when things look bleak it is hard to find something positive but it does help make you feel better to look for them.
Feel free to FM to vent anytime!

sorry you are going through this. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Things always work out, just hang in there for awhile. Like Yabbobay said, you have someone that loves you, and you have your good health.

Hang in there. Try to focus on the things in your life that you do have, especially your family and your husband and of course your health. Not that it makes any of it less hard but at least you're not alone in all this and I'm sure things will take a positive turn. Good luck.

Mishandgerald...
I know it's not alot of money, but there's a political research firm hiring in S. Patchogue. It's only about $8.00 an hour but it's very flexible evenings and it's easy work. Plus you don't have to stand, etc. All you do is take opinion polls on political subjects, etc. The place is called Atlantic Research, located on 4 Phyllis Drive. I worked there for about a year and a half to make extra cash. It'll help you feel more positive about yourself. Check it out...

Re: Mishandgerald...
Life is a test- but without a grade. When I was laid off I had never felt anything like it before. I was so upset and humilated. But over the next few weeks I saw who my real friends were and who the people that I could count on were. At the time Scott and I had just started to plan our wedding, and I had just brought my condo a few months before. I saw Scott's love for me with such clear glasses on. I knew that I would never have to fight a battle alone again. I was lucky and found something rather quickly. The job I found was sooo much better than the one I lost. I believe that there is a better job out there for you, just waiting. I know many people in the graphic fields and when unemployed they get different jobs! If someone ever asked you 'Why did you work at XX. It isn;t in the field' the answer is very simple 'I was out of work, looking for a new job in my field and XX provided me with healthcare benefits and a steady paycheck.' there is NO shame in that.
While I was home I began to see my life very differently also. I began to see that I was not defined by my career. I used to be on call all the time, carry a beeper, travel 2-3 weeks a months. And for what? Now I barely travel and no beeper. I am no longer defined by my job. I don't feel I need to put in a 12 hour day in the office to feel worthly of my paycheck or to get ahead. I believe in my ablilities to do a good job with fair hours. My family life comes first now.
Each thing in our life happens for a reason- sometimes we don't know the reason, and sometimes we don't like the reason, but it is there waiting for us to understand and learn from.

Re: Mishandgerald...
Thank you Michele31. I did come to the conclusion that my last job was not worthy of me. I refuse to take a position less then what I am making on uneployment.
I know things happen for a reason and I might possible have some freelance work because of all the time on my hands. Which was my plan to start. I want to freelance from home and stay home with my kids when I have them. So maybe this is my opportunity.
I am so glad I vented. I had 6 bm and 2 moh and out of them 3 are going throught some tough stuff too. So right now they do not want anything to do with anyone. In a sense I lost 3 close people for a little while until things can be taken care of. That threw me for a loop. Because whenever they needed me I was always and I mean always there for them. From the 11pm-3am talks at the diner to coming over and sobing about a lost husband for hours.(husband been gone 3 years)
I guess what I am trying to say the one time I need them they can't be there for me. It is funny how life works like that. I have kept myself busy and I will keep this post up to date with how things are. The worst is not finding a darn thing to send my resume to.
