now that you are married, are you still close with all your bridesmaids?

Original post by antoinette

I cant believe how some friendships have not survived a year. I mean I am still on speaking terms with these girls but we are definitely not as close as we once were.

did anyone else find this - or has anyone asked them selves- WHY the heck did I have this person in my bridal party- we are not that close??

all but one, and I pretty much knew that when i had her in my wedding. But I thought the wedding would make us closer again, it didnt.

Yes. I had a total of 4 girls (including 1 Jr. BM). I'm on speaking terms with all of them. I'm close to all. I'm closest to one of my BM who sang 'From This Moment' by Shania Twain at my wedding reception. They are my closest and most dearest friends.

Yes, 3 of them. Two of them also recently got married. I guess people become too busy!

We're all still close.

Our lives are just changing -- one of my bridesmaid is having a baby due in March, another one is getting married this June and the other two are enjoying the single life.

i haven't seen any of my BM's since the wedding (unless you count my SIL's drunken appearance on Christmas Eve). i see my MOH at least 2-3x a week, as we live one town apart from each other and she just gave birth a month ago.

i do feel as if some of the relationships have changed. all of my BM's are at different stages in their lives - one is single, one is preggo, one is TTC and i am the newlywed. we try to meet once a month for sunday brunch, but we haven't done it since the wedding. i think of them often, i just don't have the time to follow-up with them - although i should make the time if i want to sustain these friendships.

There is one BM that I do not talk to very much. Actually I have only talked to her once since my wedding which was in November. I had a feeling this would happen though. We did not talk much before the wedding, but it was one of those friends that I felt I had to put in the bridal party. I do talk to the other 6 all the time though!

thats exactly why I kept my bridal party very small...I had 3 girls...2 of which were my MOH...I went to school with them from 1st grade, all the way thru college...we are still the best of friends! and my other bridesmaid was my niece!...(plus my daughter was my flowergirl!) very happy with my choices.

Still really close to all of them.. Although there was a blow out with one of the GM..... I am so sad, because he was the one who introduced me and my hubby. But unfortuately we will never speak with him again

I had four girls that were part of my wedding. I am still very close to three of them. The fourth was my husband's sister. I basically had her in the wedding to be nice and make my husband happy. We were never close at all. The three others, including my maid of honor (my brother's wife) still remain very close to me.

I am still close to all of them but its definitely changed. I am closer than ever to one, she really was there for me and helped so much and that meant a lot to me. One I speak to sporadically but that is just because of schedules. 3/5 I definitely don't feel as close to, including the MOH. They were very difficult during the planning-unintentionally-and it definitely changed our relationship. Althought I know they didn't mean to hurt me, its difficult feeling like you can't rely on your friends.

I'm not close with my MOH now and we are in totally different places in our lives. I don't think we will ever be in the same place...she is into going to bars and buying lots of clothes and shoes and her Daddy just bought her a store to run until the preschool he bought her opens next year. We still chat each week but haven't seen each other in about 7 months (then again she goes away on vacation about 2x a month). I'm not sure what will happen between us.

My cousin was my BM and we have been close since we were little. We have gotten even closer though she moved to HI (husband is military). I wish so much that she lived close to me! DH and I are trying to make it to HI to see her this year.

Re: now that you are married, are you still close with all your bridesmaids?

I only had 2 bridesmaids and one moh.

My moh was my sister who of course I still speak to and is my best friend. One of my bridesmaids was and is my best friend from childhood and although we dont see each other often, speak all the time. We have very different lives but we understand each other none the less which is awesome. My other bm was and is actually my boss but also one of my closest friends. We had met at a previous job. We got married within 3 weeks of each other and have gone through a lot together so we have remained close.

Now ask me about most women invited to the wedding...thats a different story! LOL

My MOH is my sister and one of my BMs is my SIL, so yes, I still keep in touch with them. I only had one BM who is not a family member and we still keep in touch. I have a feeling we will keep in touch for a very long time.

Yes, 2 were family, couldnt get rid of them if I tried. 2 friends yes but friendship has changed.

1 was SIL and havent spoken to her since wedding night. Good riddance

Re: now that you are married, are you still close with all your bridesmaids?

Still close with all 3, even though two are living in California now. One (my MOH) was there during the planning, the other lived in Chicago and has since moved to CA, so it's hard to keep up with them, since neither are big on e-mail and the time difference makes calling hard, but when we connect, it's like old times. The other just moved from NYC to Massapequa, and her DH is an old friend of my DH's (we introduced them when we started dating, and they got married way before us!) so if anything, we're getting closer since it's so easy to visit now.
