now that you are married, are you still close with all your bridesmaids?

I cant believe how some friendships have not survived a year. I mean I am still on speaking terms with these girls but we are definitely not as close as we once were.

did anyone else find this - or has anyone asked them selves- WHY the heck did I have this person in my bridal party- we are not that close??

I moved to Florida right after the wedding and then moved to Texas right around our one year and we are off to Arkansas in March so I think that has alot to do with it. I speak with them atleast once a month some of them don't have email if they did it would be easier.
They are good friends though so normally when we start talking again we catch up real quick.
My MOH and I are on completely different stages of life she broke up with her long term BF right after the wedding and has been single since so we have trouble connecting since are lives have gone in two different directions since the wedding.

They all fully supported me from before I was with Dh and through our whole long distance courtship and we all miss each other but we move around alot and it puts strains on alot of relationships. One of the benefits they have all found is that most of them like using me to test out things or to ***** too about other people since they know I am out of state..

Unfortunatly no... we lost our 'closeness' during my wedding planning. I would say that out of 8, I am close with 5

I still speak to the other 3, but they are actually all single and they've drifted away, I guess they think I'm 'different' now, who knows...

I only had 1 a MOH which is my sister, so I guess I have to speak to her

I could not deal with the BS associated with a bridal party so I did not have one, I guess that is why I was able to keep my friendships intact.

I say this because a couple of my friends can be cheap, unreliable and are never on time.

Yes

Yes, although, I understood the type of friendships I had before they were all BM's, so nothing's changed.
-They all live out of state, or far
MY MOH & I will be friends till the end.
My good friend from HS lives in San Francisco and is an attorney- so we catch up when we can.
the other 3 are my cousins. I love them dearly, but 2 out of the 3 are a out of sight, out of mind type. We dont' usually speak until summer. It saddens me, but what can you do? I can either get upset over it, or just accept it for what it is, I chose the latter.

I have learned a LOT about friends w/ the whole wedding planning though. It's disappointing

I only had 1 MOH....and yes, she is still my absolute best friend in the world....

I decided against a BP because we got married in Italy....I didn't want to put pressure on my friends who might not be able to swing an international wedding....and honestly, I didn't want to deal with all the BS..

It was either 1 or 8 (ya know how if you ask 'X' then you HAVE to ask 'Y' and then if you don't ask 'Z' she'll be pissed...blah blah blah)

Sorry to ramble...to answer your questions, yes...1/1.

I can't tell you you how much I agree with you here....

During the planning, I lost a 10 year friendship and in the end, I am better for it - but it still stinks!

I'm close with all of them except one.. and it is one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever gone through- we somehow had a fight, but she doesn't want to talk to me anymore although I was willing & ready to work it through

I'm close to all except 1. Really sad if I stop and think about it, I can honestly say I've tried to keep our friendship going but it doesnt work with one person not giving a crap.

I've made up my mind to cut my loses and just remember the good times we've had

Sage : I totally know what you mean about if you ask one then to just HAVE to ask the other one and if you ask that one you have to ask that one or the other will get hurt and so on.

Unfortunately this was something that was a BIG part of my bridal party choosing and those are the relationships that have dwindled

I guess I cant cry over spilled milk though. I just find it sad. I wonder when its their turn to get married- what will the situation be then

My problem happened after the wedding planning, the one girl just started alienating herself from us and everything we planned. Everyone worked so well together and we had a ball and we still do on ocassion. I love my girls.

I am sure when the time comes I will ask 2 of them to be God mothers.

Isn't it sad that it happens? I dont even speak to my MOH anymore because of her behavior leading up to and at the wedding, and one of my other BM's is being pretty shady abouot keeping up our friendship too. The funny thing is that I'VE always been very conscious about keeping in touch with my friends despite having a boyfriend/husband, but some of them are not keeping up with me.....

I feel better knowing I'm not the only one, but do you all think it has anything to do WITH the wedding, or just coincidentally happens around the same time.

Edited to say--YES, I've thought to myself, numerous times--why the heck did I include her????

Don't be forlorn (name of your smiley) my friend ... if it weren't for your wedding planning you wouldn't have made some new friends (who think the world of you!).

As far as my BM's (6), I wouldn't say that my relationship has changed much with anyone of them because of me getting married or wedding planning. However, as I grew older I have found my relationships with friends have really changed in general. We are all really busy and live all over and have a lot going on so we may not see each other or talk very often and it is sad but we all know why and accept it and know we are all still good friends to each other. Whereas there are some friendships that I have left behind for good and for bad. In fact, I remember I had a conversation with friends with when I was younger (around 25) about who our bridal parties would be and there are at least 3 of those I don't even speak to anymore. Relationships change...

well I am out of state now...but I do keep up with my 3 BMs online...so it seems that we are always around...one was my roommate before the wedding...so of course that relationship took an entire different spin...not seeing each other everyday...but we are still close...

my MOH was my sister...so I have biological ties that give me no choice...
