Now that you're married- will you still acknowledge your 'dating' anniversary?

Original post by HelenZ

Sooooooo according to DH he doesn't even want to acknowledge our dating anniversary now that we're married.......which btw, I didn't bring it up b/c I intend to celebrate it or exchange gifts or anything, but I guess to just spend time together on that day is what I'm looking for. My bonehead husband wants to go upstate this weekend by himself to go bow hunting (which I hate!).....I can't go w/ him, b/c I have a shower to go to.....my argument with him is that I wanted to just hang out together on Sunday at least just spending time together, especially since the next day is our 1 month mark (yes I know I'm a dork! lol). Am I crazy here??? I don't know why I'm feeling so very emotional today!! I'm depressed and feeling lonely I usually don't get like this, but I think maybe it's b/c I'm also feeling a little overwhelmed at work......I'm just exhausted on all levels lately.

Sorry about my long vent, but down to my question- do you plan on acknowledging your dating anniversary? do you think you'd celebrate it? or just make mention of it or something?

thanks for hearing me out

ETA- btw, we had NEVER really celebrated (as in going out, giving gifts etc.) our dating anniversary even when we were dating....but for me, it's just always kind of been expected that we'd at least be in each others presence on that date (even while dating).

ETA- (again lol)- I found out DH will be working nights next week- 10/15 through 10/19- 6PM to 2AM.......so if he goes upstate tomorrow, I won't actually see him until my friend Mimi's wedding next Saturday

No. We don't even HAVE a dating anniversary. I don't keep track of every single milestone in our relationship... I think our wedding anniversary is enough.

And we're not celebrating 'month' anniversaries either...

We were just discussing this because our 4 year dating anniversary is on Sunday. I would like to see if we can get a sitter & just have a couple of hours alone for a quiet dinner in our apartment. I definately don't want to do gifts or anything fancy. He hasn't decided if he wants to acknowldege the day anymore or not.

We got married on our dating anniversary so we will continue to celebrate. Dh was always good at remembering it. It took me a couple years which is why I chose it to get married on. I didn;t want to have to remember a new date

to me, its another excuse to break open a nice bottle of wine and eat cheese fondue....... can't get enough excuses to have nice quiet dinners, so we'll still acknowledge it.... but only in little ways.
