$$$$$$$$ NWQOTD 1.15.11 $$$$$$$$$

Happy Weekend!

As I sit here working on my resume the NWQOTD popped into my mind...

What is your game plan regarding work as you settle into your married life? Not all but many of us have either already started TTC or have come up with a game plan.

While I am so maternal and I can't wait to have babies I know myself and I know I will always work. I busted @ss at graduate school at night and I totally have a competitive drive when it comes to advancing my career. One thing I'd *LOVE* to work towards is starting a family business.

So again, what are your current thoughts when it comes to having a family and working?

Re: $$$$$$$$ NWQOTD 1.15.11 $$$$$$$$$

I recently got a promotion at work, so it doesn't look like I'll be leaving any time soon. Ultimately, I'd love to own my own work-from-home business so when I do have kids, I can be there more often. I'm kind of in the midst of making that happen.

Re: $$$$$$$$ NWQOTD 1.15.11 $$$$$$$$$

I'm about 96% sure I'll go back to work after a 2-3 month maternity leave. However, just because you NEVER know in life, I can't say I'm 100%. I can't really imagine being okay staying home, and I LOVE my job, and we can't afford for just my husband to work right now. That being said, if I fall in love with being at home, I feel like we would somehow find a way. Can't see it happening, though.

I hate working and wish I didn't have to work.

I'd love to be a stay at home mom.

Unfortunately... we're poor. So I will be working FOR.EV.ER.

Re: $$$$$$$$ NWQOTD 1.15.11 $$$$$$$$$

For a long time now, I wanted to be a SAHM (at least while my kids are babies). I would go back once they are in school. This is also why I wanted (want) to have them close in age, so I can stay home when they are all under 3, and then they'll all be back in school around the same time and I can work.

Now that it is here, I don't know how it will work out. I wanted to go back to school for sonography and leave teaching. I definitely don't want to go back to teaching after only having 6 weeks- 12 weeks maternity. I just can't see myself being able to do that. If we need more money (which we probably will to be able to buy a house within a year), I would work part time. Maybe waitress at night a few times a week so my husband is home with the baby.

It's something we have to figure out in the next 9 months. I think part time is going to be the best option for us right now. It's practical and realistic. I wont put my baby in day care at 3 months...and our moms work. Plus, day care is too much.

I will work flexible, part-time hours so I get lots of time with my baby.

Re: $$$$$$$$ NWQOTD 1.15.11 $$$$$$$$$

I had always imagined myself going right back to work full- time. But the more I have recently thought about that, the more that I don't like that idea. God willing everything is still the same with DHs job (mortgage industry, gets shakey ), I will work part-time so I can be with the baby(s) more.
We can't afford for me not to work at all. And my career is great for flexability. But we'll see.. I need to get knocked up first.

Re: $$$$$$$$ NWQOTD 1.15.11 $$$$$$$$$

This is THE biggest reason as to why we are waiting to TTC. I have seen all of my friends deal with going back to work after being on maturnity leave & its just something that I can not do. At current our plan is to wait until DH gets a job then once he has a job we will begin TTC. I will take maturnity leave, go back after for a very short period of time (2-3 months max) & then I will stay home. If all goes as planned by time DC 1 begins school we will TTC for DC 2 & I will remain home until DC 2 begins school & then go back to work.
However, age does play a big role in this. I will be turing 27 in February & DH is still unemployed comes July & is thinking that he may have to go back to school. Which means my plan is not going to fully work.

Re: $$$$$$$$ NWQOTD 1.15.11 $$$$$$$$$

I would like to be s SAHM. We are TTC now and have been discussing this a lot. We are working on paying down our debt. so that we can live on one income. But, we also work for the same company. There is no one there capable of doing my job. My boss already knows that the cost of daycare is going to be a big factor on if/when I return to work. He has stated that he will find a way to make it work, so that I can keep at least part of my income but be home as much as possible.
I enjoy working, but I don't want to miss my kids growing up. I am trying to start something at home on my weekends off tht could potentially expand and I hope that would be enough income for me to stay home.
