~~~~NWQOTD 1/28/11~~~~
Todays Question has to do with surprises.
The other day I told DH for V-day I wanted a new purse. Something on sale at Macys for around $40-$50. Yesterday DH told me 'I think I am going to make you very happy right now, I want you to look a 'those' Coach purses and let me know which one you want'. This totally surprised me since I really never asked for one BUT have wanted a Coach bag. I guess he is a little more observant than i thought. He saw me looking at them at Christmas time and he remembered.
Anyway todays question:
Besides your e-ring what is one thing that your DH totally surprised you with.
Re: ~~~~NWQOTD 1/28/11~~~~
The *best* pre-engagement surprise was something he did rather than something he gave.
It was JUST before we started dating (we worked together for 2 years prior but we were both in serious relationships)....we were both recently single at the time...
He lived up in White Plains/Westchester and I was down at NYU for night graduate classes....it was like 8:45 and my classes was ending at 9. I got a picture text from him of a local bar...my heart started pounding and I basically knocked people over as class let out.
I ran a few blocks to get there and he was sitting at the bar with a beer and one waiting for me!
It was a TOTAL SURPRISE and the best one of my life! We had our first kiss that night and started fully dating a week or so later....ahhhhhhh BEST pre-engagement SURPRISE of my life! This post doesn't do it justice!
Re: ~~~~NWQOTD 1/28/11~~~~
Dh HATES flowers. He thinks they are a thoughtless, easy gift that guys get when they dont put thought into what their girlfriends/wives would really love.
Well since we met hes told me that and since we have met Ive told him that I love them and I dont think its thoughtless.
After two and a half years of being together I woke up on Christmas a.m. and there were a bouquet of flowers on the table ...
P.S. They had chocolate covered oreos next to them.. He knows me well
I love taking pictures but my camera was in bad shape. A few years ago for Valentine's Day (after we said no gifts)- he got me a new camerea!
This year he surprised me by having remote start put in my car! (LOVE it!)
Re: ~~~~NWQOTD 1/28/11~~~~
best pre-engagement surprise: we had a trip to Hawaii planned in February 2009 and we were leaving the day after his birthday. On his birthday we were packing and getting ready for the trip and he said, oh hey, i got you something to wear on the trip - it was a pair of Tiffany earrings to match a ring I have
he got ME a present for HIS birthday!
Re: ~~~~NWQOTD 1/28/11~~~~
Well, our second birthday/Christmas together, he took me to Disney! I was shocked!
This past Christmas, he got me the Canon Rebel! He told me he was waiting til he got paid to do his Christmas shopping and I kept badgering him to get it done (so I wouldn't be the one doing it on Christmas Eve, which I wound up doing anyway) so he finally said he had to wait because my gift was expensive. I told him 'Don't spend a lot of money on me! Unless it's the camera... then feel free.' It was the camera.
Re: ~~~~NWQOTD 1/28/11~~~~
The dry cleaners ruined a red silk dress only worn once. It was such a cute dress and was pricey so I was bummed. I whined about this dress A LOT to DH.
For Valentine's Day, DH searched in stores for the same dress and ended up finding it in a Nordstrom in Chicago and had it shipped to NY. He surprised me with the gorgeous red dress on Valentine's Day.
Re: ~~~~NWQOTD 1/28/11~~~~
im a bish- he's pretty horrible at presents.
BUT he always brings home a dozen gorgeous roses at the most random times (and NOT when he's in the dog house). He's pretty awesome
Re: ~~~~NWQOTD 1/28/11~~~~
My 30th birthday was less than 2 months before our wedding. We were completely tapped out of $$$ and I knew we wouldn't be doing anything special. I told him all I wanted was for him to take the day off and go to the beach with me. He repeatedly told me thow bad he felt that he wasn't able to do for me all the things he wanted, blah blah blah. He surprised me with Rock of Ages tickets and an amazingly fun day in the city. He is nto a 'broadway' kind of person and doesn't care for spending time in the city. I was soo shocked!!
Aside my our engagement & my e-ring which where both complete suprises. DH suprised me with a MacBook for this past Christmas. I was in complete shock. I still am in shocked that he bought it for me. It a big expense, especially for someone who is unemployeed.
Re: ~~~~NWQOTD 1/28/11~~~~
Well... He tried to surprise me for my 35th birthday...
He got my sister and niece to fly up from NC, and gathered my brothers, parents and had them meet us at our favorite restaurant...
We spent a romantic day out east at the wineries (all the while, I was hoping/waiting for him to propose - which he didn't) - and then we were to stop for a 'quick bite' and there was my family!
I say 'tried' ... as although he didnt know it at the time - my Mom let it slip that my sister and niece would be here... she tried to cover, but I ended up figuring out his surprise.
Re: ~~~~NWQOTD 1/28/11~~~~
Before we got engaged I had bought DH tickets to the Rangers game. He told me he was going to surprise me and plan a whole day out. We ended up going to Rockefeller Center to go ice skating (which I had been saying I wanted to do), then lunch at a little pizzeria and then we went to the NHL store before the hockey game. It was the PERFECT day and I loved every minute of it! I want to do it again!
