~*~*~*~*~NWQOTD 1/17~*~*~*~*~

Good Morning Ladies!! Once again, thank you so much Marissa for selecting me to be the newest NWOTW! In the past several months, I haven't been able to feel much like a NW........ BUT now that things are getting back to normal in my life, I'm just happy to be back and enjoying my NW'd bliss! :o) I hope I make Marissa proud and can do a good job with these questions!!

Annnnyway...

So, *clears throat*... for my first NWQOTD, I'm using my typical Sunday as inspiration:

Do you and your DH have any sort of weekly ritual that is a total MUST DO in order for things to feel normal? Sure, you probably do a lot of things that are ritual and habitual, NOT that i'm suggesting RUT! I would like to think that we're all newly married and working to develop our own little family units and laying the groundwork for a long happy life together. What is ONE thing that is a MUST DO together from now until forever; what helps you stay connected?

For me, it's Sunday morning. We sleep in just a little bit late, we wake up slowly and maybe even talk for a few minutes, and then it's breakfast. That could mean breakfast in but usually breakfast out, but the one thing that i LOVE to do with Brian is have a lazy Sunday morning breakfast, where we get to slow it down, talk, eat and drink something and reconnect after a long busy week of going 6,000 mph and not getting that time any other day of the week. PS - this includes comfy clothes and holding hands :o) Not that we don't do other things...but this...it's the one thing that I always look forward to/count on during the week, especially when I don't get to see him that much! If it means I save every stray quarter I come across in order to go, I'll do it. I cannot miss Sunday brekkie with Brian. It's like a rule! It's not the only rule, but...it's up there! :o)

I look forward to reading your answers. As for me, I'm off to start my Sunday :o) I hope you lovely girls have a very nice day!

Great question Mandy - and I LOVE your ritual!

DH have a couple of things we do but they aren't like clockwork. One is we go on long drives a lot and explore New York. I am from Long Island and he is from Brooklyn, and now we live in Queens, so there is a lot about the boroughs that I don't know. I love when DH and I go and explore everything.

Also, Friday night beer and wings.

Our schedule is never regular so we can't really have a weekly ritual. Between DH going to CT (sometimes he goes Mon-Wed, Mon-Thurs, Tues-Thurs, Wed-Fri, Mon-Tues then back on Fri) its never the same. And having to go to NJ a lot to help out with his dad on weekends. Plus all the boat work he does for people that pull him all over the place.

I am a late sleeper and he is an early riser so its rare we even can have breakfast together.

So no, we don't have any regular rituals, unfortunately.

DH makes breakfast on the weekends...hey, if I cook dinner 7 nights a week and make his lunches 5 days a week, I don't think breakfast 2 days is a bad deal for him! Of course, breakfast usually comes at noon, after a few rounds of NHL10, but I digress...

Every night, we take an hour or so before bed to sit next to each other at the computers. He is usually working on a program, and I'm going back and forth between this forum, twitter, and FB, or just playing games on the computer. I'm on his old laptop and he's on his desktop computer. We always hang out like this, every night before bed. It's kinda our 'winding down' time -- we're doing our own things, but right next to each other.

DH's schedule flip-flops every week so hard to have any rituals on a set day. I think the only 'ritual' that we have come to do together is take naps together - it gives us our snuggle time that is sometimes so very needed!

I don't think we have any set ritual because our schedule is sooo different every week but at least once a week we like to lie on the couch and talk while DH rubs my feet and legs. . I know I am so spoiled bc he loves to do this but it's just so sweet and relaxing and we get to catch up and just be calm. .

We have our Sunday night 'Dexter' parties...Sunday is our off-day for our diets, so we get lots of goodies, chips, dips, ice cream, cupcakes, etc and watch Dexter. Now that the season is over, we have to find another show...DH says he misses our Dexter parties, lol so I went out and bought the 1st season of 'Lost' so our ritual can continue.
