~*~*~NWQOTD 12/1~*~*~

I can't believe its December!!!!!! This is CRAZY, as is the weather we're having today, and the loud banging noises coming from the heater in the bathroom that are scaring the dog to death. All crazy. Anyways, in light of it being the last month of 2010, here;s my QOTD....

:?
What made you pick your wedding month/date? Was there a sentimental reason, weather, budgetary? Are you happy with your wedding date or was there another you would have preferred but couldn't manage?

My answer:
I always knew I wanted a fall wedding. I actually would have loved to get married in October, on Columbus Day Weekend because its a long weekend here AND in Canada (Canadian Thanksgiving) so it would have meant more of my family and friends from home could come, BUT I had a close friend getting married that weekend this year, and next year that weekend falls on Yom Kippur! So we talked it over and figured November is a biiiit more off-season than October but if its early in the month still perfect fall. And we were sooooo lucky we had such amazing weather that day! I do love the month of October but in the end I'm happy with our day!

Re: ~*~*~NWQOTD 12/1~*~*~

We picked April because our dating anniversary is April 10th. We originally wanted to get married on the 10th, but then chose a Friday night instead of saturday. We still wanted April, but since the 9th was meaninless to us we decided to pick a date later in the month so it was a better chance of nice weather. That is how we ended up with April 30th!

Re: ~*~*~NWQOTD 12/1~*~*~

Well we wanted our wedding to be on May 1st since it was our 5 year dating anniversary. We got engaged and shortly after us another couple got engaged. They asked us what date we were looking at, we told them, they went out that weekend and booked their wedding for 2 weeks before. I know it doesn't really matter but that's the kinda people they are so it bothered me. So we switched it to May 14th to allow time for recovery between the weddings and everything was right in the world again.

Re: ~*~*~NWQOTD 12/1~*~*~

We wanted a late summer wedding... actually we wanted a May wedding but a friend of mine who was enagaged before us chose a July wedding and we didn't feel right about having ours before hers.

Anyway, so late summer it was going to be. We went to JT with no specific date in mind. They have August 27th available and we went for it. Nothing special... no real meaning just the time of year we wanted. Thank God too because we have the most PERFECT weather. We thought for sure it would be 90 degrees and steamy! It was 75, no wind and not a cloud in the sky. We really lucked out!

Re: ~*~*~NWQOTD 12/1~*~*~

Shortly after we got engaged we started thinking about when we wanted the wedding. Without hesitation we both said 'the fall!' at the same time....like legit the same time bc I said jinx
bc I'm cool like that.

Anywho, we started researching and compiled a list of places to check out. The Woodlands was the 3rd place we saw and we just knew it was the right fit for us!! We were instantly obsessed!

We ended up with 10/30/10 based on combined availability of The Woodlands and the band we knew we wanted (his sister and brother used them for their weddings and he was obessed with using them too). We crossed our fingers on the church and ended up lucking out. And that is our story behind 10/30!!

Re: ~*~*~NWQOTD 12/1~*~*~

I found out two weeks before the wedding that we actually could've had the wedding on Halloween.

If I had known that, I would've chosen Halloween... but went with our date because it was as close as we could be to it.

I definitely wanted October, it's just such a pretty month and DH is like a grizzly bear -- he doesn't deal with heat well. He would've been complaining like a pussface the entire day if we had been married in warm weather.

But I mean as luck had it... we had a good day and even though other people got chilly at the end of the day, I was fine. Nerves keeping me warm I guess.

Re: ~*~*~NWQOTD 12/1~*~*~

When we got engaged Oct 30, 2007, DH said we will have a 2 year engagement no shorter, so I agreed, I really wanted to have a Halloween wedding or at least use the 30th being that we got engaged that day, but I had to go by DH's schedules.

DH had only between Dec-Feb for us to use because he has his regular job, then races from April-September and owns a landscaping business that goes from March-Nov. He refused to take off from racing or landscaping, so I had to go from Dec-Feb.

I orginally wanted a NYE wedding, but with most halls having their own parties that night it wasn't working out. So then I picked the 2nd because its still part of the holiday weekend. The 2nd is also my favorite Aunt's wedding anniversary and I was having her husband walking me down the aisle, so it just felt right.

Plus it worked out not using Oct. 30th because my sister ended up getting married that day

We knew that we wanted a fall wedding. When we were looking at places, we discovered that October was a bit more expensive than November, so we changed from October to November.

Re: ~*~*~NWQOTD 12/1~*~*~

Most of our friends work for colleges all over the country, so we knew we wanted to do something during winter or summer break. The summer following our engagement would have been too quick because I had comprehensive exams and I vowed not to do any wedding planning until I was done (at the end of March). Summer 2010 we knew we would be moving, but we didn't know where. Therefore, the winter break during December 2009 or January 2010 seemed like the best plan. When we found out that most halls said there was like a $40/pp price drop between December and January...January it was! It wound up being really perfect timing though, despite it being cold!

Re: ~*~*~NWQOTD 12/1~*~*~

We picked it because we both love the fall and we wanted a Saturday night wedding. November was a lot more reasonably priced than October too.

We originally wanted 11/7 but that date was booked so we picked the BEST DAY EVER!!! 11/14

Re: ~*~*~NWQOTD 12/1~*~*~

Originally we wanted a fall wedding- we were going to do 10/10/10.

However, we got a much better price for summer months (and as a teacher I could take my HM right away).

JT gave us a great price for July 10th- but DH and I wanted 7/17 because we both like the number 7.

So no special reason...just kinda happened!

Re: ~*~*~NWQOTD 12/1~*~*~

We had actually tossed between Aug 15 (my first baby dog's birthday ) and Nov 26....

Alot of Factors swayed us towards the 26th.. First was while we wanted an outdoor wedding... DH sweats like crazy in the sun so I was really pushing for Nov...

Then Second, we fell in love with our venue... and if we got married in August, we'd either be a morning or evening wedding... as they would try to do two that day.... and if we took Nov - we'd be the ONLY wedding there... so that si what clinched Nov. 26.

lus, I loved the idea of the 'ultimate rehersal dinner' being Thanksgiving!

Re: ~*~*~NWQOTD 12/1~*~*~

We both hate the heat so we knew that summer months were out of the question, and we both instantly knew that winter would be it for us. All significant things that took place in our relationship happened in the winter. We also wanted to keep it close to our actual anniversary, which was the 14th of January, so we chose the 16th instead.
