Sorry for being late with this today!

Did you and DH compromise on where to go for your HM? Did you want to do one thing and DH wanted to do another? Did you actually go where you wanted to gor your HM? Did you want to go somewhere else? If you had to do your HM all over again, would you pick the same place, or some place else?

not really we tossed around a lot of different ideas but we were leaning towards aruba since it was the best bet during hurricane season in the carribean. and DH booked it as a surprise to aruba. if we could do it again we'd probably go to portugal or argentina, some place warm but with alot of culture. somewhere less resortish.

In the bginning I wanted to do a very relaxing and lazy 'beach' HM. But DH hates the beach and can't swim so I knew he wouldn't be too into that. He mentioned going to Europe and I had always wanted to go, so we chose a cruise that would still allow me to swim and have that 'beach' feel but had all the sightseeing he loves!

Did you actually go where you wanted to gor your HM?
Absolutely! we visited so many different countries and so so many wonderful places, if I close my eyes, I can still feel like i'm there!

Did you want to go somewhere else?
Once we chose where we wanted to go, no, we were super excited!

If you had to do your HM all over again, would you pick the same place, or some place else?
I would pick the same places we picked the first time around, but I would so do my HM over, year after year if I could!

Kind of....We wanted a visit a country that neither of us had ever visited.

We wanted something in the caribean since we already knew that in July we were gonna go to Paris and London, so we wanted a place that we could hang out in beach and relax. I had visited a few islands in the caribean and Mexico was one that neither of us had so that's were we agreed to go.

It was definitely a compromise. We both wanted something exotic. I was hell bent on BALI... im obsessed with different cultures and i thought it would be awesome. DH wanted the seychelles. I ultimately gave in to the seychelles with a promise that my 30th or 40th birthday can be in BALI. In order to get to the seychelles you have to stop in either DUBAI or PARIS. We chose DUBAI and i would go 1000 times again -- it was AWESOME. just incredible!!!! I loved dubai. they seychelles were beautiful and we stayed at an amazing resort.

Did you and DH compromise on where to go for your HM? Not really we both knew the location depended on what we could afford.

Did you want to do one thing and DH wanted to do another? Nope, we are pretty much on the same page with vacations...beach!

Did you actually go where you wanted to gor your HM? Did you want to go somewhere else? We wanted to go to Mexico but we couldn't afford it at the time so we ended up going to Myrtle Beach, we both love it there!

We would definately go somewhere else. We are hoping to go to Mexico this summer for a second honeymoon.

We both choose Key West...

We wanted to go to Hawaii.. but not enough $...

We LOVED Key West... if we would re do our HM and HAD the money, we would go to Hawaii.. if not KEY WEST was Amazing for us and we would redo it again.

We wanted something tropical but really exotic. Our original idea was Maldives, but it was just too far and $$ and DH has a hard time taking vacations at his job. In the end, we did a mini-moon and honeymoon.

Did you want to do one thing and DH wanted to do another?
I think I wanted a beach vacation more than he did. I love laying and doing NOTHING.

Did you actually go where you wanted to for your HM?
Nope, but it worked out! We did a mini-moon in Napa and it was AMAZING. We're leaving next Thursday for Costa Rica! We figured we'd mix a ton of adventure in with our beach honeymoon!!

Did you want to go somewhere else?
I still kinda want to go to Bora Bora, but it's rainy season there now and it's the only time we can go.

I'd definitely do the Napa mini-moon over and over, it was so amazing. Haven't done Costa Rica yet, but I think it'll be amazing.

Our HM was one of the hardest things to plan. I wanted to relax on a beach and DH said he could never lay on a beach for a week. Plus, is really big on traveling throughout the US - and there weren't really and good beach options in the US for October (except Hawaii and he didn't want to go there because of the long flight). So after a LOT of discussion we seriously talked about Napa, Italy or Ireland - but the weather in Ireland was kind of iffy for Oct. And if we went to Napa or Italy, we would have done a lot of traveling around, stayig in different places, which I didn't really want to do. So, after months of trying to decide and only about 1 month before our wedding, we decided on Aruba - he finally gave in (I think he just got tired of talking/arguing about it) . Well, he wound up LOVING Aruba and kept thanking me for planning such a great trip (And we would both definitely go back there)

I told DH from the time I met him that I wanted to go to Hawaii on my honeymoon. That's what I dreamed of since I was young. He was all for it as well. We threw Las Vegas in there too to shake things up and be a little unique. It was an amazing trip!!

we had a few places in mind. we knew we wanted a 3 wk honeymoon, wanted to leave soon after the wedding, and wanted to see something or go somewhere we'd probably never have the opportunity to go again

australia/NZ were high in discussion, but with the flights and travel time, we felt like we needed more than three weeks...and it would be more than our allotted budget.

we also discussed costa rica...b/c you get a mix of adventure and beach.

we;ve done cruises before and like them, so when i saw a translocation cruise leaving from FL, through the panama canal, stopping in costa rica! and ending in LA and told DH about it, he was psyched!! he is an engineer, so seeing the panama canal is kind of a big deal.

and since it was a cruise, it fit in our budget so much so that we were able to upgrade to a suite !

all the places we stopped were awesome. would i do it again? maybe after they open the new part of the canal (2014) and with a different cruiseline.

but overall, it was an amazing trip!

i totally had to compromise with this

my DH decided about 5 years ago that he hates flying (we had a really bad flight home from hawaii in 2006 and he's been scared since then). so we took two back to back cruises instead. it was still an awesome time, but i would have loved to go to like tahiti or something. just not in the cards for us. maybe when we're old.

Dh's main job during the wedding planning was to plan the honeymoon. I said I wanted to go somewhere exotic and sexy and relaxing. I also mentiOned that I always wanted to stay in a water bungalow so from the beginning we were thinking Tahiti or Maldives. We hadn't had a vaca in two years so we went all out and it was so worth it

Eta: neither of us had to compromise, our vaca styles are similar.

We compromised on the fact that we wanted to go somewhere where we could lay on a beach and relax. Other than that, we tossed around different ideas (cruise, week long, Europe, Tahiti, etc.). Once we set the budget, that's what cut out a lot of ideas.

If I did it again, I'd go to the same place, just for a longer amount of time!

We comprised and did what we could afford traveling during christmas week. We both wanted to go to the caribbean because there are a ton of places we haven't gone too. But the flights were too much money. Mexico was more in our budget so that is how it was decided.

I'm usually the 'leader' in terms of planning anything for us. DH is more laid back and I'm more of a planner. I suggested St. Lucia and DH thought it was a great idea. We also wanted to spend some time at Disney World, and we postponed that until 2 weeks ago actually so we wouldn't be at Disney with the summer heat and crowds. The Disney part meant more to me than to DH
