It's Friday and I'm counting down the last 3 1/2 hours of work so I can go to happy hour, which leads me to today's question:

What is your drink of choice when going out? What's your DH's? And as you've gotten older, have you really learned how to say no more?

My 2 hard liquor drinks of choices are usually a dirty martini or vodka and seltzer. If i'm wearing a not so tight outfit, I'll go for any beer. DH usually gets scotch or whiskey on the rocks.

I have gotten a little better but on a crazy night, I forget about the past hangovers and completely overdo it. And it's bad to do it with a dirty martini especially!! This is all DH can do

Mine - Wine or Amaretto Sours
DH - Long Island Ice Tea or Gin and Tonics

And we've really cut back from when we first started seeing each other. I don't think there was one night where we were equally drunk, or that I can remember. lol.

My drinks- Vodka & Cranberry, Sprite, Malibu, with a splash of pineapple juice; Patron Silver

DH's drinks- Heineken, Jameson, Corona

And no, we have NOT learned to say no yet.

Mine - Beer (Heineken, Corona) or Wine / Prosecco

DH - Beer

And YES, we have both learned to say no more often! We both really enjoy going out for drinks but the older we get the more we HATE....loathe....being hungover. Its becoming less and less worth it for us. We'll have a beer or two with dinner and call it quits.

and I don't drink much when we're out because I am the driver. DH tries to cut back when he sees me stopping. He says he feels bad lol

I've become quite the beer girl :) i don't really like mixed fruity drinks. I drink vodka and diet if I want to get drunk or 'wearing something tight' as you put it I also love dirty grey goose martinis and extra spicy bloody marys

eta: DH usually just drinks henessy & coke or jack and coke. BUTTT he is such a girlyman in that he hates beer but loves mikes hard lemondades and hard cider i always make fun of him

and DH rarely gets wasted. And I have learned to say no. the last time i got obliterated was new years eve and before that, it was months and months.

i just don't like it when i can't remember stuff i did

edited to add: i am more relaxed and prone to get drunk if DH is with me. Since it's rare that he'll get wasted, I know he would take care of me if i get out of control

DH: very rarely drinks, but when he does, its really old scotch

I go through phases when I can say no... and when I can't say no!

Funny, Dh and I were talking about drinking last night - we both hardly drink, I think we drank to much when we were younger.

I don't drink much but I would say, piña colada is my fav!!!! apple martini, Vodka & Cranberry or wine.

DH is a beer guy or captain and ginger ale.

Me: Gin and Tonic, Malibu and Diet, Extra Dirty Vodka Martini's, Beer (all kinds) and White Wine LOL

DH: Vodka and Cranberry, Amerato Sours, some beers but he keeps it simple

We have learned to say no but I drank a lot back in the day - I don't really get hangovers. Only did if I got sick from drinking and that hasn't happened in a LONG time. To be honest, we dont have the time to do that anymore. But I am going out tonight, hoping to get a little drunk lol

DH and I have never been drunk. We both drink responsibly enough where this has never been a problem. So we have never had a problem saying 'no' to alcohol.

My favorite drink is Malibu Bay Breezes and DH varies.....he really hasn't had a drink in so long i have no idea what he would order

DH: Rum and Diet or Beer

We've both been really working on cutting back - not because we're drunkies, but because we're trying to watch our weight and when you drink too much:

1) too many liquid calories
2) you eat too many late night snacks
3) the hangover isn't worth it to ruin a weekend day

Overall, we have gotten better at limiting ourselves and staying away from those wretched hangover days.

we aren't huge drinkers by any means. I think we definitely got it out of our system when we were younger!

But when we do go out, I always have wine. I had a really bad experience with hard alcohol a couple years ago so I've sworn it off. Although I did have the most delicious spiked strawberry lemonade the other day!

DH loves scotch. His favorite is 18 year macallan, but he also loves sh!tty beer, so it depends what kind of mood he is in!

I am a Vanilla Vodka w/ Ginger Ale, and DH doesn't drink he sticks to Diet Coke

I know when to stop, I only got really retarded and seriously retarded once

Mine: at a bar, i will always order malibu bay breeze if i want to feel good but still be competant. If i want to get drunk vodka and diet.

When we go to parties (weddings in particular) i will always get Malibu Pinapple and a splash of vodka (sooo yummy!!)

DH loves his Jack and coke but at parties its always amaretto Sours

I prefer margaritas on the rocks, gin & tonic, vodka & sprite or wine. I also like shots.

DH usually has beer, Jack & Coke, or Captain & Coke.

I know how to control myself. I still get hangovers on occasion, but not frequently. I still have a great time and drinks a plenty, but I'm over the out of control puking phase lol
