what quality from your parent(s) would you most like to have as a parent - or for those of you not wanting to have kids - what quality of your parent(s) would you most like to have in your relationship?

Re: NWQOTD - Sunday
Id like to be as open with my children as my mom was with me...and vice versa. No matter what, I could tell her anything. I had a little extra freedom to do things because I told her the truth, so she trusted me. As long as she knew where I was, what I was doing, and that I wasnt driving...she never held me back.
Being 'friends' with your children is important too, as long as you hold up with the parenting end also. I loved the relationship I had with my mom growing up and Id love to have the same with my kids :o)

I want the discipline and respect my father instilled on us. He was always fair, praised us when we were good and punished us when we weren't. He was just always there like a friend, but maintained the authority of a parent. I want to be able to balance with our family if we have one.

I would love to have the open communication my mom had with me and my sisters with my children. We knew we could talk to my mom about anything. I still can. Love my mom!

My mother always told us that we could talk to her about ANYTHING~and we did. While our friends would lie to their parents about stuff, we were very open with our mom. I hope I can be like that with my kiddies.

Oh jeez, that's actually a tough one because I have issues with the way they both parent...I guess I hope I have my mom's honesty and my dad's ability to love unconditionally.

Seriously i couldnt have asked for better parents. They are the very best. Always there always ready to listen & help whenever & wherever they can. But still always had rules for us to abide. They were strict yet fair. They have taught me morals & values & manners that when isee some other people im so happy i was taught. They just did it all right & i pray we can be as great of parents as they were to me & my sisters & bro. We were very lucky.
