NWQOTD - Thursday 12/8/11

How did you / do you choose your side of the bed?

For me, DH has a thing where he always has to sleep closest to the door. Maybe it's a protective thing, but even when we go to hotels or whatever, it's not like he always picks the left or right side, he picks the side closest to the door.

its a protective thing. DH does the same thing.
when it came time to pick the side of the bed, he told me i should havethe side closest to the door so if anyone ever broke in, they would get me first

but then he still took that side.

he let me pick. but i always have slept on the left side and he seems to have slept on the right side all his life so it worked out for us

I have no idea.....I sleep on the right against the wall and he sleeps on the right closest to the door. No reason, just how it happened! Now if I try and sleep on his left ever, he gets so mad! haha!!! When he had his accident this summer he slept on my side of the bed for a week or so so his foot was away from me. But he complained everyday!!!

I'm not sure. We just started on sides one day and it stuck. But it's so weird! Before we lived together - at his place I would sleep on the left (if you are standing at the foot of the bed facing the top), and at mine I would sleep on the right. Both closest to the door. I also sleep on the right at his parents' vacation house (also closest to the door). But at our house, I sleep on the left (away from the door). So it seems so random!

He is closer to the danger. whether it be the door or a ground level window which ever side I feel like is less of a chance of being killed.

Lucky me gets the side with the alarm clock and the dogs.

DH gets the side with the TV and window.

I try to steal his side, but he usually just rolls me over to my side of the bed anyway.

ETA: I am also closest to the door. I'm beginning to realize my DH is a bigger baby than most. I remember hearing a bad noise downstairs one night and who went to go investigate? ME. Armed with a table leg with a screw sticking out of it.

It was nothing anyway, but still!

I sleep on the left, but there was never any reason. He does sleep nearer to the door and me nearer to the window. But I can't even remember how or if we decided on that sleeping arrangement!

i dont even know.... the left side (closest to the door) just looked good..... so thats where i slept! I cant change it now it would feel too weird!

He likes the left. When we were in DC, that was closer to the door.....here it isn't. It doesnt matter to me since I sleep on myback
