NWR: But I'm just sooo frustrated!

NWR: But I'm just sooo frustrated!

I got laid off from work three weeks before the wedding...since we got back from the HM, I've been actively looking for a new job. And there is NOTHING out there!! I was a real estate paralegal, working in the mortgage industry..I know it's going to be impossible to get a job doing that now..

So, I've been applying to all kinds of jobs and going on interviews..I can't take it anymore. I'm so depressed about this. I stay home all day on the computer looking for jobs and cleaning my house. Christmas is coming and things are tight already..

I just don't know what to do right now!

i am so sorry I know exactly what you are going through because i am going through the same thing. I can't take it anymore either. I signed up with 3 recruiting agencies and NOTHING, even today I called up just to see if anything was available and nothing and even they were complaining about how its so scary. In the past when I used them, I got a job right away, my last job I got the day after I went to the recruiting agency.

I send my resume to so many places and NOTHING!!!! it is depressing and I HATE not working and I am getting even more stressed now with the holidays coming up.

Today I was looking online at newyorktimes.com. Did call up one place that had a few job listings. I called and they asked about my last job and said they had something come in that would be good for me and to send my resume and I just did, so I am REALLY praying it works out. I dont know how much longer I can take this

Wishing you luck, hopefully you find something soon

Sorry girls.
Have you tried craigslist? Sometimes they have good opportunities there. Since they dont have to pay for advertising the smaller companies will tend to use them.

I'm so sorry Maybe for the mean time just take any entry level position in any field? I know things are meager, I'm also job hunting. I currently work part time at an insurance agency but I have a masters degree in psychology and can't find a job anywhere. It's so demeaning working here because I'm really just an assistant and they refer to me as one of the kids b/c the other part timers are college students. I'll pray for us all!

yeah everyday, its the first place I check. The problem though is that it is too popular. You have so many people applying for each job. Alot of other people I know are doing the same thing by applying on craigslist and most are saying the same thing

I check every job site I can...craigslist, monster, hotjobs, careerbuilder, etc. I've gone to recruiters and agencies, even willing to take a temp to perm job.

I'm not even looking in my field anymore. I love what i did, but right now, I KNOW there are no jobs there.

Dh keeps telling me not to worry, that we're okay, but I honestly just can't stand it anymore. It's been almost 3 months.

And taking something part-time isn't worth it, because I get a decent amount from Unemplyment Ins..and at least I'm home to go on interviews..

I have two recruiters that I can recommend in the Finance world though. Not sure if that would be helpful to you.

The finance world is probably the hardest right now, most are looking to downsize. Thank you very much for the offer, you can fm me the info but to be honest not sure what i'll do. Ive gone to 3 agencies already and nothing, and kinda getting tired of going to each agency, taking all their tests and nothing. I want my next interview to be a job interview, seems like everything is just a recruiting agency i get interviews with lol

Just like Dee, i also said ok i'll do temp work, temp to perm work whatever. Looking in so many industries. It just S*CKS right now

Sorry to hear! You are not alone, I been going through the same thing. When I started searching interviews were picking up now that the economy has been doing awful I have yet to see a job listing that matches my criteria in 3 weeks.

I haven't heard from the agency I was working with for over a month now. The only advice I can give you is just keep looking! Hopefully there will be a turn around soon!

I'm sorry you are going through this.

What kind of a degree do you have?

I think that guidance counselors should prep kids these days to go to college for AT LEAST a 4 year degree and encourage them to get a job in field that is guaranteed to need people, at all times.....jobs like teachers, doctors, lawyers, etc.... I think that the future holds some very scary things for people in unprotected careers

I'm so sorry.
DH is actually going through the same thing. He got laid off one week before the wedding and has been looking for a job since. He sent out at least 30 resumes and only got two interviews. I hope DH and you find something soon.

DO NOT STRESS!!! Remember I lost my job back in April and did not go back to work until August... I know it is cliche but it will work out and happen... If you remember there was a point I thought we were going to have to cancel our wedding.

Have you girls tried stylecareers.com???

They always have listings for jobs, but not in the mortgage/financial industry, but its never too late to change your career path!
