NWR- Ever walked in snow with crutches?

NWR- Ever walked in snow with crutches?

I sprained my ankle bad and can't walk without the crutches yet and there's 4' of snow outside. I am scared to death of walking on crutches out there.

Has anyone done this?

Thanks!

Re: NWR- Ever walked in snow with crutches?

i know, i was on such a high after the wedding (18 days ago :) and then the honeymoon ;) and then bam! i fall - it was like the universe brought me back from cloud 9 saying, get back down here & ground yourself! Bah.

i have to go down my stoop, then across my lawn which is at an incline, not too far from the curb, maybe 100 steps. Hope to find a spot in front of my job, which i doubt on a day like this, but if so, then only about 50 steps and that's it. Not as much as I thought, but the thought alone worries me.

Maybe I'm being a big baby.

Awwwww...I did, but I was 9 years old & don't remember how I did it!

I think carefully.

I don't think you're being a baby! I can't barely stay upright in snow without any injuries! I can't imagine trying to get around in it with crutches! If I were you, I would try to see if you could stay home today. Maybe I sound like an old lady saying this, but you really should have both feet planted on the ground in case you start to slip. Be careful if you have to go in!

Yes.....stay inside for now. I sprained my ankle back in college and of course we had a blizzard the same weekend. Once things begin to cleared off the sidewalks, I couldn't go anywhere. I would recommend you stay in until things get better outside.

thanks for your support!!!!

i just feel bad that i've taken so many days off recently for the wedding, then i got sick right before i fell, and then i had to leave early the other day for the orthopedics appt for the ankle...

Yup

I had ankle surgery one Chirstmas break in college & came back to snow all over campus.

The only advice I have is go SUPER SLOW. Can you have someone at your job come out & meet in you in the parking lot & help you in?

ETA - as crazy as it sounds, don't wear a heavy coat. I realize its snowing, but the coat under your armpits can make the cructh slip out. Esp if its one of those puffy coats. Do you have a heavy shawl or poncho? Not as stylish or warm, but safer.

Good Luck!

Note to self the next time it is going to snow get some crutches

Glad you were able to get the day off!! You are being held hostage by the snow. Keep me updated on what is happening on day time tv.
