NWR: Just feel so upset

NWR: Just feel so upset

I was hoping to hear about a subbing position in a local school district near us. Well I just went online b/c agenda for Board Meeting was not on until tonight, and my name was not on the agenda for subsitute appointments for approval....I feel like I could just cry and cry & cry...I dont even know what DH is going to say when he gets home tonight...we were both so hopeful that the interview had gone well & this would be a little extra $$ coming in to help us out right now. Wow, I know this sounds so trivial b/c I have my family & friends, a wonderful husband & my health - but not having a job or even being able to get a job makes me feel so devastated & empty right now.

Thanks for letting me vent ladies.

I'm sorry to hear things are not going the way you and DH are hoping for, have you try looking on http://www.nyc.gov, go on the city board and see if there are openings. If you're looking for substitute positions, there are some available in the city. It might be lower pay than norm but it's something to help get through the bills. I wish you the best of luck with your search, if I see anything I'll make sure to forward it your way.

First of all I agree that looking in the city is a good idea. The pay is actually pretty good, although there are no health benefits. Not having a job is sooooo stressful you have a right to feel sad and frustrated. Something will come along I am sure!

I know things may look down now but you will find something. I would broaden the search. It may not be ideal but for the interim it will at least bring in some $.

I went to the link & found education website but I cannot find job listings for teaching - only admin's & other non-teaching positions. Is there a website that directly posts teaching jobs in NYC? The commute I know will probably end up being 2 1/2 - 3 hrs each way (but if I take the train from where I live at least I'd be able to sleep a little on the way in & on the way home).

Is there anyone who teaches in NYC that might be able to help me? I am certified in special ed (students w/disabilities gr.1-6) & literacy (birth-6th). I'd be happy to teach either a regular spec ed classroom position, resource room (which is what I have been doing for past 2 1/2 yrs), or reading/literacy teacher. TIA for anyone who can help me - I really need to be back in the classroom - I miss it SO much!

Hi Cindy - I havent posted on monstertrak...have never actually heard of that. I will look into that.

I dont live on LI anymore - I currently live about an hour & 1/2 north of NYC - so I would have to try & look for jobs in the city since I would most likely take the Metro North train down into Grand Central & then figure out where I would be going from there.
