NY to FL = Roadtrip!!!

DH has been wanting to DRIVE to FL from NY for the longest time and I finally agreed.

So we're thinking of going mid march. Has anyone done this?

I'd like to space it out between two days so that we can stop at some attractions along the way. What states do you recommend?

I'd say if you could get down to NC by the end of day one, you'd be in really good shape to make FL by the end of day two. We've never driven it, but it takes me about 6 hrs (give or take 45 min) to get from Suffolk Co to Northern VA where I live. Fayetteville NC is another 5 or so hours south of here.

DC would be a good stopping point (Cookie and I could be guides ), and if you wanted to veer off the path of I-95 a bit, Williamsburg VA is great. But that's a town that could delay you since it takes several hours to walk through.

We stopped in Myrtle Beach, but its out of the way from 95, and then continued to Miami.

well no its not that its bad its just tiring and exhausting, but i dont like roadtrips, so thats prob. why.

I-95 is the easiest and fastest route and its extremely boring.

I've done the roadtrip down to Florida and back a few times... let's just say I hope to never do it again! It just takes so dang long!

That said, I really like DC. I've been there a few times and I think it would be a nice place to stop. However, it's only 4 hours from NYC, so it wouldn't be like a mid-trip stopover, you know?

Hehehe thanks. We were planning on taking I-95 but I figured we'd stop by some states on the way and see the 'worlds biggest ball or yarn' etc....

I get antsy sitting in a car for more than 5 hours...but hopefully the stops along the way will make the trip easier.

I get like that too, and stops along the way definitly do help, but you know whats the worst part...the drive back lol, after you did all the stops and all you want to do is go home, the drive back is so long.

I remember driving through Virginia, its hugeee lol!

I've done it a few times too, and I agree, on the way back Viriginia seems to be the never ending state. I will never do it again!!!

i did a couple of times.. theres nothing exciting to see along the way on I95.. just watch your speed!! now i prefer jet blue!

the only thing that i can remember that we always stop at for what reason i dont know but is 'South of the Border'

Tons of helpful info on that website!!!

I have driven down there 20 times (at least). Without any major stopping, we can make it down to the end of SC and then we leave from there and make it to Florida (Orlando) by early afternoon. If you want to stop at attractions, you are probably going to have to take 3 days unless you do not mind getting there late in the evening on the second day. If you are going futher north like Daytona it will cut down on the trip by an hour.

They have a south of the border thing between NC and SC, which might be nice to stop at.

I've never done it, but one of my BMs did and she had a great time.

Ev, no suggestions- we did it in 17 hours, no stop.. which is pointless.. However, with all the vacations you go on, can you adopt me?
