OK, I have a very personal question for the newlyweds...
I hope you don't mind me posting on your board, but...
About 50% of couples miss their 'First Night'
FH & I are thinking of obstaining for about 2 weeks to a month prior, ya know to make it 'special.'
Do you think this is worth it if most of us fall asleep anyway?
HONEST OPINIONS PLEASE!
Thanks

It's one thing if you are both virgins and decide that it is best for your lives to wait until marriage to share intimacy. That is truly special and something that is rare these days.
I just don't see the point in abstaining if you've already done the deed. If you think it will make it more special, than that has to be your personal choice. Personally, I just don't think it makes a difference. JMO.
What does your FH think about this?

FH & I live together, so we originally thought that it would be nice to 'Stay out of each other's hair' the week before the wedding. Then I saw a post on the BHB board abou this & told FH.... he thought it might be a good thing to do. I dunno maybe because he saw it on the boards, but I said OK, and now I am thinking it may not be worth it...especilly if we fall asleep!

hmmm. I guess it is something to think about then. For those girls who abstained... did you do anything else special that night?
(BTW, if these quesstions are too personal, just tell me so)

I don't know if a month is necessary. If you want to wait 2 weeks, that will probably make it special enough. We did not abstain at all and the night was special anyway. There's just something about being married that makes is very special that first night.

wow Jenn, that's really cool. I never thought of it that way. I guess I am just a little anxious.

we held off for a few weeks. Not sure it made anything 'more special' than any wedding night would be, but the anticipation in those weeks leading up to it was exciting

We abstained for about a month before the wedding. We were so tired after the wedding we went to sleep and left for the honeymoon very early the next day. Well, the first honeymoon night was great! Definitely worth the wait....abstaining made our reunion all the more exciting

We abstained for about a month too. We were tired. But that didn't stop us. DEFINITELY! worth it. One of the best night's we ever had.
