OK not to start drama, but....

Anyone have an opinion on the rise of Bindi Irwin? The whole thing kinda creeps me out...

What do you mean? That she has a show and all that? Or something else?...

I understand where you are coming from but I think that her mom very well protects her.

I get a little freaked out with all these child stars to begin with, and she's a real cutie, but the circumstances of her rise to fame are like, sad.

'The 9-year-old bundle of energy is a sunny presence despite the tragic death of her dad, 'Crocodile Hunter' Steve. In fact she's following in his footsteps, wrangling wild animals on her series.'

Yeah its really like a mini me version of her Dads show. PLUS they've got her doing 'environmental rap' music (bloody awful), and a CLOTHING line. The kid's everywhere, and I think we've got enough experience to know where it heads for kids who get so famous so young.

Hmm that bothers me a little because its like she is taking on ehr dada's legacy but thats hard ona young kid especially because he was killed in action so to speak and now she is doing the same thing. Im no shrink but not sure thats the best emotional therapy there.

DING DING DING!!! Exactly!!! Not sure why I couldn't articulate that but you nailed it. THen mama Teri is out there saying 'But she really LOVES doing this blahblahblah.' OK but kids really LOVE sticking foreign objects up their noses too, that doesn't mean its good for them...

i can def see what you are saying Colete...

when she first started appearing on talk shows.. everyone just loved her.. i think that part is great!!
she is def a cute kid and sooo energetic ...

but at the same time.. being what her dad did..how dangerous his job was... its a little scary to see a child doing it as well

It's Bindi Biotch

I cannot stand to see her on shows. I think she is 'fake cute' as in she is told to do things by her managers that they think the public will think is cute. I know that is marketing which would be okay if you were not 7 years old and your father died 2 days ago. I remember seeing her on a show right after his death and they had her up singing and dancing to promote whatever project they had going on.

They may say that's what she wanted to do and she picked her career but at 7 I thought had an awesome career as a finger painter so 7 year olds don't always know what is best. Some adult guidance in her life that is not all for money would be nice to see.

EXACTLY!!!! Its the 'fake cute/happy' part I see that too... GRRR I get so p*ssed at the stage mom syndrome, it bothers me to no end. Childhood is SO short, these kids pay the price later.

I don't see anything wrong with it. I mean Brittney Spears was in the Mickey Mouse club, years ago, and look what she's become . Child stardom has it's ups and downs I suppose. But she has guidance and stability from her mother, so thats a plus. I think with Brittney, her mother was more about the money than anything else. This little girl and her mother are about the passion of what they love doing best. Whether it be because of her father or not. Thats JMO

Around Steve Irwin's death a lot of the news reports mentioned that he and Bindi were working on a production together, so her entering show business probably was already in the cards. Of course it has a more tragic connoation now that he's dead.

Argh, I saw her perform on the 'Today' show. I felt embarrassed for her and had to change the channel.

I guess it just runs in their genes to take risks...my mother would never let me do that in a million years!
