Nowadays gifts arent nice gestures anymore. Theyre like mandatory to some people. Its sickening.

that is so funny and just crazy. How do you send a list saying 'oh this is what i want you to get' and like someone else mentioned, wait until you're asked.
I am curious, are the things on her list expensive?

Wow... way to be presumptious
I'd be angry too. What ever happened to the siprit of giving and it's the 'thought that counts'???

Re: ok this really steams my clams!!!!!
I'd be spiteful and buy something that wasn't on the list
She could have been more subtle saying, oh he likes this character or plays with these toys. That was just rude

Re: ok this really steams my clams!!!!!
Yea I would have to agree, I would be a little bit upset. I dont like receiving wish lists unless of course I ask you what you may want and really have no clue. Dh asked me what I wanted for my b-day (my MIL wanted to know). We were communicating in email and I sent him a few ideas he said okay I am going to forward this to my family. I got upset and told him not to I think it looked too demanding even though they asked me what I wanted. I am weird like that. He ended up telling them things that I liked to give them ideas. I personally would not send out lists of what my children want for christmas etc.

My sister inlaw send the same thing only for the kids. It actually helps us pick a gift, instead of figuring out what to get for them. I know that the list is something the my nephews will like to have...that will save my SIL time to go back to store for return/exchange

Re: ok this really steams my clams!!!!!
My sister gives me a list every year of what to get the kids.. it makes my life so much easier and I get them what I can afford from the list.. It's not that serious.. I actually think it's really helpful and not materialistic.. they are kids..

Re: ok this really steams my clams!!!!!
Yeah it's not your responsibility to give their kids what they want. It is your choice to give them a gift that you can afford and times are tight right now. You need to do what you need to do to get by this holiday season. I would be really irritated that she sent this e-mail. Maybe your DH can deflect this and explain that you will be getting the kids gifts they can afford. Good luck!

Re: ok this really steams my clams!!!!!
This is for your nieces and nephews? I think that is an awesome idea! Every year my brother and sister both send me lists for their kids. The list ranges in price and it is SUPER helpful. They also do it for the kids birthdays. It isnt like I am NOT going to get them something and more often than not, I spoil them.
If you dont appreciate it, just ignore it - I am sure it was done with good intentions.
