My sister gives me a list every year of what to get the kids.. it makes my life so much easier and I get them what I can afford from the list.. It's not that serious.. I actually think it's really helpful and not materialistic.. they are kids..
it is if i have been out of work and hurting for money since MARCH!!! so you would change your mind about this if it was you

Sorry but I disagree. How is it really any different than registering for your wedding gifts? Since it is your nephew, it is fair to assume that you will give a gift, esp if you did in the past. With a range of prices, it gives you options. There are so many toys out there and it can be difficult to get something perfect. This makes it easier. My sister and I always exchange a list of choices. Last year, my niece wanted a specific bratz item that was expensive and she suggested my brother and I share the cost for it. We usually spend about $50/kid, so it fit in that range. I ordered it from Walmart online and picked it up. It was simple and easy and my niece was estatic. Maybe you will see it differently when you have kids.

Yes...I think it's rude!! It's like asking for a gift...no make that demand! I think if she hinted in conversation that's different but not a list...it announces 'You must buy my son/daughter these gifts!!!'
I think bridal registries are different...because people don't get handed lists of what to buy. Also they are invited to bridal showers so they get free food and drink lol...seriously, it is up to guests if they want to get a gift off someone's registry or not. It's not presented as mandatory, as it was in this situation
