On a serious note....

On a serious note....

As a follow up to my post the other day about my MOH's nephew overdosing, I wanted to thank everyone who sent such nice FMs and for the condolences. I have passed them on to the family. Michael passed last night after being removed from life support. He was only 18 years old.

If any good came out of this, its that Michael's organs were harvested and they went to 7 recipients. His liver, heart, kidneys, lungs, pancreas and bones were all donated to save others.

If you are not already an organ donor, please consider being one. As many of your know, my father-in-law died while waiting for a new heart this past September. He was 54.

Thanks everyone. Sorry to be such a downer

Oh sweetie... I didn't see your post!! I am soooo sorry for your incredible loss. Many hugs and prayers to you and your family. ITA about being an organ donor. I'm one too...got the big ol' 'Organ Donor' stamped across my new license. That is wonderful that so many lives were saved after something so tragic happening.

I'm so sorry And I know his parents choice to donate his organs must have been difficult, but they are truly doing a wonderful thing. One of my best friends received a transplant last year, and without it, she would not be with us today. It is so sad that it's such a tragic moment for some and yet, such a miraculous moment for someone else.

So sorry for your loss. It is so heartbreaking to read about someone so young. He has a wonderful family and through their loss they can bring other people so much joy. I admire them for making such a difficult choice. Many prayers for you and the family of Michael

so sorry!

When I went to change my name on license, I also made sure I was listed as an organ donor....I'm glad his organs could help/save other people.

Re: On a serious note....

aww I'm so sorry for your loss, I missed your first post, but I'm so happy to hear about them donating his organs. My mom received the gift of life when a young male in his 20's passed on both his lungs to her. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have a mom anymore. So thank you to you and your family for doing this!

I will pray for you and your family

I know when my mom went into transplant, we kept telling her we would be here praying for her, and all she kept asking was that we pray for the other family (the donors) because she was getting a second chance at life, while that other family just lost one and needed the prayers more. I have to say I still think about them. I thought about them for days after and prayed so much. On the year anniversary I said prayers for them as well, thinking this must be so hard for them. We wrote to them, but they never responded. Not that I think they should, if I were them I wouldn't know what to say. Thanks again, because its families like you that can turn something so tragic into a miracle for many families.
