Re: on the topic of FB & funerals

Why would you even bring a camera to a funeral?! That's not something I'd like to document!

Re: on the topic of FB & funerals

That's creepy.

However...if you've ever gone to a hardcore Irish wake or funeral...it's not completely odd to see someone snap a photo of the deceased in their casket. It used to be really common, but I think the tradition is dying out a bit (pun intended, obviously) Though they don't go posting the pics on FB! Geez! And to TAG the photos?! Jiminy crickets!

That is completely true.

When DHs dad passed, his grandmother drove us crazy about taking a picture of him to send it to her family in Ohio. DH refused because he felt it was extremely morbid & coming from an Italian family I thought she had completely went over the deep end. DH then told me that in Irish families its a customary thing to do.

Re: on the topic of FB & funerals

Taking pics at a funeral is sooo creeepy....never would I ever.

But I remember for my cousin's wake, my aunt took pictures of the casket!!

Since my family was not able to attend the funeral in Puerto Rico, she wanted us to see them, but i was like OH NO NO NO!!!

I leave it to that she was no longer thinking clearly, first coz she was under chemo for breast cancer and considering that my cousin was only 18 and killed in a car accident. I think my aunt blamed herself, coz that night my cousin was home that night and had no plans to go out. But a friend came by her house after 10 pm and convinced her to go out to play pool. My aunt tried to tell my cousin to stay home, but she didn't listen and she died later that night.
