I was looking into one of those online schools for my bachelor's. I already have my associates and license. It's all online and I'd finish in 2 years. Where I am now, I'd have to go to class and clinicals and I'd hopefully finish in 5-7 years.
Has anyone done earned a degree from an online school?

Re: Online Degree
I'm looking into going for a second master's degree online. I was looking at Touro, Penn State, and Phoenix. Not sure what you are going for and what each would offer for you.
Two of my friends are getting degrees online and it seems pretty easy as far as not having to physically go to school.

I haven't earned a degree from an online school...
but I just want to mention...make sure that a degree from the school will be recognized by whoever would be licensing you or whoever might be giving you a job.....

I'm a registered nurse. I have my associates and my license. I want to get my bachelor's degree. I was looking into University of Pheonix which is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. It would be full time but one class at a time. Everything online. Les credit and less tuition than where I am now.

I wasn't trying to burst your bubble...
I just couldn't see anyone putting in all the effort and time and money...to find out that the degree wasn't recognized.

My friends husband just finished his associates online, and is now going for his bachelors. I think its with the University of Phoenix. He's been doing great and loves it.

I would do research on the University of Phoenix. I was looking into it and I came across mostly negative reviews. Have you looked into Stonybrook?

do you think you'll ever want to go on and get your master's degree? the only reason i ask is because sometimes when applying to graduate programs, online degrees for a bachelor's degree program are somewhat frowned upon. i'm not trying to burst your bubble either, just wanted to put that out there. :)
i work in advising for a graduate program and we very rarely even take transfer credit from univ of phoenix

Re: Online Degree
Hey Mel....I take online classes! It definatly takes ALOT of dedication and I think its alot more work than going to the actual class!
It also depends alot on the instructor. Some make it unbearable, some make it bearable.
Last semester I had to read 3, 50 page chapters a week and critique it with a 10 page essay. I also had to check in EVERYDAY with this instructor because he was always changing the outlines, the material and the homework around. It was a pain. Plus each one of his test question had 7 possible answers.
I have another instructor who is awesome. She is the only reason why I will take more online classes. She gives assignments ahead of time. THe due dates are strict but she gives you a months of work, a month in advanced. SO inless you wait until the night before...then its cake!
I would say try it out. Make sure St joes will take the credits if you decide to transfer them over. Cant wait to get breakfast at Ihop with ya tomorrow lol

Re: Online Degree
Thanks everyone. A lot of good points were brought up and I think I will stay where I am. They offer some classes I need online so I could always do that. In fact I'm thinking of an online course over the summer, and the course sounds very interesting so I shouldn't suffer, I think I will enjoy myself. I do want to get my Masters one day so I think it's best. I want a school with a repuation and I want a great education which I have with my current program. Thank you again!
