OWN OR RENT???

We own our apartment in Manhattan, and prob wont buy a house until we expand our family

We closed on our house July 1 and kinda sorta moved in on monday. DH could not wait to get into the house we may not have our bathroom sink yet (the vanity place sent us the wrong color), half the house still needs to have sheetrock put on the walls and the ceiling oh and we can't take a shower because we don't have a shower door. Even though we don't have everything done yet we really love having our home and knowing one day the work will all be done.
It brought us closer and we seem to spend every waking hour fixing it up but at the end of the day (it's night) when we see our days progress it was sooo worth it.
It will truly be home tomorrow the cable guy is coming

Rent

i feel like it will be YEARS before DH and i can afford to buy anything. LI is so over priced!

We own. We bought our house 6 weeks before our wedding. And then we had a tree fall INTO it on our 1 month anniveray

Ahhh the JOYS of homeownership!!!

We own.....we bought a fixer up last Oct. and just were able to move into it right before the wedding.....(literally a week before)

I LOVE my home and I loved buying a wreck (haha) b/c I got to make it how I wanted it to be...it was a TON of farkin work though but it's a good investment, you'll see.

It def. is a bit nerve racking owning a home.....everything is your responsibilty now. For example.....every time it rained our basement would flood through just one window.....it took us a few months to figure out how to fix it on our own....then we did and b/c of the steep slope on the side of our house when it pours the water has nowhere to go now and seeps through the ground and into our basement...it's like a never ending battle haha but the basement isn't finished so we'll figure it out.

We also almost had puff back in our house......we had a major pipe leak.....ummm what else lol

With that said.....always be prepared that something is bound to have to be fixed and when it breaks don't freak out......take a step back and breathe.....things happen, you might be out a buck or two the next two weeks but you bounce back.

I love coming home to my house & spending time in it w/ DH, Friends & Family!!!

We rent a ridiculously expensive apartment in Williamsburg. I am a Brooklyn girl and I almost fainted when I found out how much DH (then FH) was paying in rent. But we love the neighborhood (so close to the city!) and want to take advantage of that before we have . I hope we can buy something in the next couple of years. I think prices are coming down a bit. (crosses fingers...)

Don't think we will be able to afford a house here on LI anytime soon

We own - and it is so great knowing that your doing this together - renovations, paying the bills.

we're renting a crappy basement apartment in a house. the rent is dirt chep, so it works.

We hope to buy in the next 6 months... the market is dorpping rapidly. DH's grandfather also may be leaving us his home (NO mortgage!) in Smithtown.... crosses fingers that legally it all works out because we want to be fair to him too!
