Packing Help: Vegas

No clue what to pack. We are going to do the nice dinner thing at night and the typical touristy stuff during the day. How hot/cool does it get?

Since a lot of you have been there recently - pls help.

Re: Packing Help: Vegas

It is very very casual for mostly everything with the exception of the nightclubs/fancy restaurants. Bring a light sweater/jacket for in the hotels/casinos...it's usually freezing inside. The days are usually blistering, but most of your time will probably be spent inside...the most we were outside was by a pool, or a stroll up the Strip at night. The temperature dips, but when I was there it never really dipped much.

I think I went to dinner every night in either a sundress or shorts.

Re: Packing Help: Vegas

Is it really hot now? Ive seen the weather.com temps but i went there once before in Oct and i dont remember it being hot at all. Are tshirts and capris good or do i need to be wearing tanks and shorts?

Re: Packing Help: Vegas

I'd bring a little of both....just in case. I tend to overpack.....but I needed everything when I was there because when it's that hot I like to change clothing a lot!

I don't think it's as bad as it was in June...but the casinos really dictate what you wear. It is so cold inside..I wore a sweater everywhere!

Re: Packing Help: Vegas

Hmm..that is the problem. I DO NOT check baggage. So I have to get everything i need in my little roll on. And i already have too much stuff to bring - my wedding outfit, my bottle of champange, my little bouquet. Its only 3 days - 4 if you count travel days - so i really shouldnt have such an issue.

Re: Packing Help: Vegas

You should have nice outfits for the nicer resturants, as some do not allow jean type outfits. I always bring a sweater with me to Vegas in November so I would think you would still need one in October. The weather can be warm during the day and colder at night.

Re: Packing Help: Vegas

I was just there last week and the weather was beautiful...it was about 99 during the day and went down to 75 at night. During the day it is very hot but not a sweaty hot.

Most of Vegas is pretty casual so I just wore capris with sleevless blouses most days and at night it was basically the same thing. The only time I would get a little more dressed up is if you go to a fancy restaurant and I think a nice sundress would be fine for that.

Have fun!!!

Re: Packing Help: Vegas

you may be surprised how cool the desert gets at night...into the 50's...

1 pair walking short
1 tank (in case its really hot)
1 casual shirt
1 cardigan/sweater
1 pair capris
1 business casual type outfit (if you want to go somewhere fancier - maybe if you have black capris, you could pair with slingbacks, a nice top and through the cardigan over your shoulders...)
wedding outfit

does that sound right?

Re: Packing Help: Vegas

I was there 2 weeks ago. It was about 95 during the day, and warm, but not muggy, at night. It was definitely good shorts and tank weather during the day. I wore capris on my evenings out.

And yes, the AC is always pumping indoors, so I was always cold if I didn't have a sweater with me.

Re: Packing Help: Vegas

I was there a month ago so I would guess it was alot hotter than it is now. I would pack some dressy outfits at night. I felt most people were dressed at night, so I got dressed at night too. During the day I just wore casual. If it is in the 90s still, bring some shorts too. Oh...not matter how hot it is, it is FREEZING indoors everywhere so make sure you bring something to throw on. THe casinos were so so cold. Sometimes it was so cold that I couldnt wait to go outside to warm up

Re: Packing Help: Vegas

I tend to play up the Vegas factor when I go, so I bring outfits that are a little 'more' then I would normally wear.

We were casual during the day, but dressed it up at night. I think you'll find that a common practice. Its pretty much impossible to be over dressed in Vegas.

It can get cool and windy at night, so be prepared for that. And the casinos are CHILLY (to keep you awake all night long).
