Packing...UGH

ANyone have any tips on packing? We are moving soon and it jsut seems like so many boxes for not alot of stuff

It takes a lot of boxes. My biggest tip is label well and keep an inventory of what you pack in what. It takes a little longer but it will make life a lot easier on the other end.

I would say try and do like 5 or so boxes a night, this way it breaks things up.
When my grandparents moved, they numbered the boxes and then had a notebook where they put everything that was in each box. This way things they needed right away were easy to find.

Label everything! Use moving as an opportunity to clean out anything that you will not use.

I would say make piles of keep, donate, and toss for things like clothes and such. Throw away anything that is in poor condition, donate things that are still good but you don't want, and keep the rest. When we moved in August I gave away kitchen items, clothes, etc.. The less to pack the better. Also number all the boxes and make yourself a list of what is in each box, that way when your moved in you know exactly where to go to find things, and don't have to just tear open box after box. Also label the boxes by room so the movers know where to put them. And shrink wrap works wonders.

I used those stickers that are plain used usually for names (Thicker than name tags) and wrote every single thing in each of the boxes! It made unpacking SOOO much easier!!

I agree with everyone. Labeling is what saved us a ton of hassle. Just know where you put everything so that unpacking isn't the hardest part. You will have a lot of boxes but if you categorize and label them it'll make life so much easier.

I have moved so many times I think I could be a professional packer at this point.

My advice...pick a room and start there. Say the living room.....just go around and gather things.....make sure not to make the boxes too heave. It is actually easier to use a bunch of smaller boxes than a few big ones cause you will never be able to lift the big ones.

When we moved we didnt have to go far so this worked for us.
One of the easiest parts was my closet! I laid a sheet on the bed and through all my stuff with the hangers still on on top of it and wrapped it up.

I carried one end and my BF carried the other. Took it to the new place and hung it exactly like I had it!
