This sounds like a case for the BBB if you ask me. I am like you, the more $$ I spend..the better quality I want and customer service too.

All I can say is this..You have DH and nothing can change that. I saw your pics and they are beautiful. Maybe you dont need to add all the extras but still get a beautiful album but the video..I would ask for some kind of credit and use it towards the album.

You are so right. I have my DH and thats all that matters.

I am tempted to just call them and say im sorry I don't have an extra 1000.00 to pay you ontop of the 7000.00 I already paid you so either ill downgrade to a cheaper album or just put 1 picture on a page. It just sucks cause u have such high expectations. And I love my pictures.

You do realize that you can make the album you want by ordering the pages and inserts yourself..You get teh pictures from them but the mats and pages from a photography store.

P.s..even though the contract doesnt say anything about extra..doesnt mean they will hear it...its kinda like negatives..some make you pay and some will give even if its not in the contract. But play hard ball..a compromise would only be fair.

I feel like its the old Don't ask don't tell thing I asked about the negatives but didn't think to ask about extra cost for the album I paid for.

that is definitely how the photographers get you.

Of course you are going to go over your originally contracted amount if you even had a halfway decent photographer. We ended up spending an additional 600 dollars and we had a huge album to begin with(66 images which we bumped up to 89 before we left). I knew this before going in though because I had asked so many questions in the beginning.

I don't really think there is much you can do besides take it as a learning experience that you need to really research next time. My photographer never offered this info up front either, you need to ask them for it.

We were told that we pay per page not picture when we booked but I asked specifically about that so maybe that's why . I didn't know anything about the panoramic pic, that's good to know. I don't think I'd want it $200 badly.

We're not getting our video from them so unfortunately I don't have any info on this.

Maybe FM bethsiar since she should be about a month ahead of you on this process?

ETS: just realized the 2nd paragraph is not really clear. Basically yes, I know that we get whatever it is (50?) pictures, 50 pages period and that any customization of that will cost more $$.

Today she told us you paid per picture not per page. When I asked her oh can I put this pic and this pic on the same page she said 'sure' then she went through my proofs (not pictures I had picked for the album) and found three black and whites of the cake put all three on the same page and said 'wow look at that it looks so pretty I agreed. She put them togehter. Well those three picture cost me 85. And the 2 pics cost me 65 Each page that is like that.

I'm confussssssed. So you went there with your 50 pics picked out and then wound up picking more from the proofs and thats why it got to be more expensive?
I have to tell you I read your thread at least 50 times over the past two days and this is what I gathered from it. I was a little nervous going into my session that we would come out owing money like you did, but we didn't-thank god! I'll add a review for me later, but maybe you can redo your session?

My photographer had in the contract that included in the album price were 4 pages that allowed 4 pictures on a page, 4 pages that allowed 2 and then 4 pages that allowed 3 pics per page (I don't think it was that many, I am guessing). I definetly paid more because I added lots of pages to my album...

NO we have only 50 pictures which is what we are allowed. We have (on our contract) a REV. Album that holds 50 pics so that is why we have only 50 pictures. We didn't go over. We went for the REV. album (most expensive album) Cause the guy said you can put 4 pictures on a page or do a panaramic picture if you want but you can only do it with this album. When we got there yesterday to do it they charged us 65.00 to put 2 pictures on a page and 85.00 to put 3 pics on a page. At the end of the session she counted the pictures and we had 50 picked out. So We didn't go over (I am assuming)

Although I was really happy with my photographer I have to say the album was the hardest thing of our whole wedding planning. We got to our appt at 6:30 and met our coordinator. I told her that we wanted to add more pics to our album. Ok fine she took our 600 proofs and went threw everyone, making a layout of each page blah blah blah. She was telling us ok this pic would make a great panoramic, this one would be great in all b&w and then we'll just add color to the flowers, this pic would look good as...whatever. Fast forward to 10:45, what kind of album do you want, what kind of album for your parents, which for 5x7 8x10 16x20.

Now I'm think why the F is this taking soooooo long...... its 11:30 and I am soooooooo tired.......price time.............with everything she suggested came to $3500 more ....its 11:45 I had no strength to argue with her. She left the room and we concluded that she must have tired us out on purpose . We ended up using some of her suggestions and paid $2500 extra, but we really felt that the studio should have given an approximate price list to you when you picked up your proofs, this could really have calmed a lot of confusion and wasted time. They can tell brides anything when they book about album pricing and what not, when I booked 1 year before my wedding they could have told me that my photographers were aliens and I wouldnt have remembered, not with all the wedding preperations and being 'wedding high'. I guess its just standard practice.
