I booked Patken....I don't think Michele said anything wrong. They DO do these shots & John & I were like 'No way' would we ever do this. She was just giving her opinion

I used them. I would say we have some romantic shots, but not anything 'sexy'.

When I met with them, Doug mentioned the couple he did nude pictures with as an example of how he tailors the pictures/photographer to what you want. They wanted nude, and he did that for them. He didn't in any way try to selll me on nude photos.

Is there any safe drama free place left on LIW, I think I will have to resort to Parenting. Why is this on the newlywed board....is there no safe place anywhere....I do not want the drama here, please, please. NO drama necessary for a simple question.

I think its very unfair..

I asked this board the question bc I wanted to see who used them and how they liked them..

I don't want to know who else booked them NOW but didn't use them YET..

There was no need for people to insult me when all I did was ask a question.

where else would you like Brides2be to go to, to ask about vendors. I dont know maybe those who are married and have used those vendors.

I dont know shot in the dark, i am guessing newlyweds.

I am not trying to be a smart A$$ here, but it was a simple question of who used patken.

Miscommunication came about and it seemed to resolve the problem.

there is no need to continue to harp on something if it was resolved.

The Newlyweds are all open to all questions, just not the drama. I am willing to answer any question asked of me by anyone. As long as I am contributing to the topic and assisting the person in some way shape or form

I used them, and LOVED them. They will accommodate any style you want, traditional or contemporary. I was NOT into all those traditinal shots.

I think what I said was misrepresented. I didnt say that Patken does topless/nude photos. Im sure ALL photographers do nude photos if that is what the client wants and there NOTHING wrong with that. The human body is beautiful and tasteful nudes can be as well.

What I said was that Patken implied that if we didnt do nude photos (or something equally unusual) we would not be 'entitled' to his best photographers. Since I am shelling out the $$, I thought I should be entitled to make the decision what photographer I would like to use AND I thought encouraging a potential client YOU JUST MET to get nude so you could 'prove' yourself was weird and turned me off.

This topic came up in a thread on the BHB sometime last year and Patken himself came on to 'defend' himself. His comments confirmed my feelings of uneasiness.

Patken has very nice work and his fees are reasonable. I just didnt get a good vibe from him.

Just to add: I never insulted anyone with my post. Why be so defensive? I didn't even make a judgement about someone wanting to do a topless/nude photo. I think they can be really beautiful. Heck, Mark Kauffman has a sample book with a bride in a bodice and thigh-highs and she is laying on the bed. That is a photo in her wedding album. She looks great and if she wants it in her album, fine. Just not for me. Never said a word about Patken's work- but like Stef said his comments last year were a total turn-off.
