Patken Brides: question about albums

Okay,

I booked a 36 Photo Combo album with Patken (matted album with different sizes). I signed the contract but then I realized then I had a question about the package because I noticed that on there was a number 5 in the line that said combo pages. So I called Patken to ask about this and I was told that that means I can have 5 combo pages and that the most number of pictures I can put on a combo page is 4. I asked what happens if I want to put 3 or 2 pictures on a combo page. She said that I can put 2 pictures on a page, but then that would give me a 34 photo book but the 2 pictures would be larger than the 4.

SO I was like ok and hung up. Now I've been having serious doubts about using them (basically because I feel as if I didn't negogiate the package well enough. It was the first vendor that I booked by myself) but I love their work.

So, I'm thinking about checking out other photographers but regardless I feel as if this was sort of deceptive because no where was I told that my price was based a 36 photo combo album. I assumed (I know, I know I shouldn't have assumed that I could select those combos as I want. I wanted to talk it over with my FH before I called to see if he thought I was stressing over a little thing, but for once he agrees with me.




So basically, what do ya'll think. Is this normal? What happens once after you get your proofs and start picking your album? Was anyone else told this thing about the combo page?

I'm not sure how to answer your question, but just keep in mind that even though you already picked a package, you can easily make additions. So if you want to add an extra page of photos, you can. It's very customizable. I thought it was really hard in the beginning to pick a package because you don't really know what you're going to want until you see your proofs. So I just guessed and then when I saw my proofs I ordered a bunch more pictures than what I had originally picked.

But I think I see what you mean about them not explaining the combo pages. It's just one of those things where you have to ask lots of questions before you sign a contract. They sometimes forget to cover things with you.....

I would call them and speak with them about your concerns...they were VERY good with me like that. Regardless of how many are in your album you will be thrilled with their pictures!

They are very flexible..and they will definately work with you! I booked them and used them for my wedding..I wasnt thrilled with my pics..Ill be honest with you..but they worked with me so that I was happy with my album...if you have questions..call and ask for Doug, he's the owner and is very nice..and I am sure they will accomodate you!!! We have pages with 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 pictures on them. I think I'm a little confused by what you are concerned about. They were so flexible with us. We made so many changes, additions, and substitutions that what we wound up getting was completely different from our original package. I have no complaints whatsoever. If you have concerns, call them and let them know.
