I think it's awesome that your DH wears headphones - maybe I should drop off a pair to my downstairs neighbors??? They play their music SO LOUD allllll the time - the problem is really the BASE, our floors vibrate and all I hear is boom boom boom Hmmm, maybe I can leave a set of headphones from 'santa' on their doorknob?

I understand your pain (somewhat).
My cousin, who lives a few buildings over, has a *drug dealer* (so she likes to call him) above her who is partying and making noise all night.

music and artying would annoy me...l which is why I have to understand that my child might annoy others..

When we used to live in an apartment - we had the same problem. We try everything we can, from talking to the people above us, giving them carpet, talking to the landlord, to knocking our ceiling which ended up to a huge fight but nothing change. We just moved out (and bought our own brownstone to be safe )

Try calling 311 - i guess but it has to be very late at night and they have to be very loud. Sorry

I hit my son twice.... with a wooden spoon... it was painful (for me) but anytime I hold up that wooden spoon, homeboy goes RUNNING!!!!

oh please don't say that - I'm about to go to the basement to get my laundry but I guess i have to wait for DH to come home so he can get it. Some of my friend keep telling us that we have ghost because they see ORBs in the pictures they took inside our apt. I thinks its a light reflection but who knows. I guess as long as they don't bother me its OK

I had a friend who lived in a brownstone in PS, and some weird stuff went on... but they pretty much made 'friends' with the ghost... so nothing scary.

it would creep me out, but I grew up in an old house (built in the turn of the century) and just used to what was around...

dont be afraid, if they're there.... theyve been around for while and mean no harm =)))

In our Co-ops and in Many Condos there is a rule that if you are not on the 1st floor that you need to have 80% of your appt needs to have carpet or rugs all around so the people downstairs don't have to hear as much impact.

Maybe you can talk to the landlord and see if they can say something like that to the tenent above you... its worth a shot.

we have the same problem in our apartment. 2 kids under 4years old and a horribly annoying dog that live upstairs with two semi-loud parents and hardwood floors. it so much better in the summer with the air conditioner to drown them out...
