pet owners- do you allow your pets on your bed? couch?

I think i am going to stand my ground and not allow the dog on the bed.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE dogs! but i just dont think a dog belongs on the bed every night. all i can think about is how dirty their paws are and that their doggy genitals are on the bed! gross!!
maybe if they lay on a blanket first?
i dont know...


as for the couch, i think i will allow it. i would def. put a blanket down first.

It's a brand new couch so i am very protective and anal over it!

Mine allowed on neither......she is just too bad and I don't want the Hair all over everything anyways......

Just easier this way......and actually she has never even tried it on her own.....I guess she just know.....

Our dog sleeps with us at night. She is also allowed on the couch. I love having her on the bed and so does dh.

we were so against having her on the couch and bed.. but we caved..

she is still NOT allowed on the couch.. but she does sleep on the bed when DH leaves for work (4am) so its a couple of hours. its still bad though

...i just wrote in response to your other post...my dogs sleep in bed with us...i always thought it was gross too...but they are on top of the covers...which i wash when i change the sheets...they are also allowed on the furniture...which is why we got distressed leather...easy to clean & claw marks just look like the leather.

My pup is allowed on everything. She sleeps with us every night- BUT she is a little yorkie who is paper trained- so she doesn't go on daily walks and if she does go outside then I bath her before she gets into bed... and she doesn't shed so I don't have to worry about fur everywhere

I think it is great if you set the rule and don't allow the dog on any furniture. Make sure you stick with your decision so the dog doesn't get confused. When I first got my dog, he always slept with me in bed. When DH and I moved in together, he would not let him in bed with us! So, baby Leo would sleep in is bed right next to my side, on the floor. We would let him lay on the couch in the house we used to live in, but when we moved, we stopped allowing him on the couch.

BUT!! I must admit...

DH works nights so me and baby Leo are usually home alone every night soooooo....he sleeps with me in bed!! DH does not know this! And when I am on the couch, I allow Leo to hang out with me as long as he has a blanket underneath him. I can't help it...I friggin adore my dog and want him near me all the time!!

We sometimes allow her on the bed but she does sit nice with us on the couch.

dh doesn't care for when i have my turtles on the couch or my bed. He usually screams out of the room. He is afraid of them IoI

we have one kitty, and she sleeps with us every night. when we're not home she becomes a lump under the covers. she knows she's the ruler of the house - wherever she wants to go, she does.

Brutus sleeps with us every night. He usually falls asleep on the couch an then some time during the night he comes into bed with us. He sleeps under the covers either between us or on my side of the bed.

He sleeps on the couch all day long BUT he knows that he can only go on there if his blanket is there.

He is a Boston Terrier so he really doesn't shed much - I know it is probably gross but I really like cuddling with him, he is a great cuddler

that's a big negative. I never allowed my dog on my bed ever since I read the article about the amount of bacteria they naturally carry... No thanks

ETA: dogs weren't allowed on the couches either. Its a hassle to have to clean everything weekly just to get rid of the hair & the bacteria I *knew* was there

Yeap she sleeps with us...i honestly cant resist her cute face when she begs to go under the covers, she gets bathed every two weeks and we also wash our sheets twice a month so for us its not a big deal for her to sleep with us. Shes allowed on the couch too, shes a maltese, so she doesnt shed.

My cat does whatever she wants! She climbs on counters, tables, sleeps on the bed. And she drinks water mostly from the faucets! She owns the house!

same for us (we have a shih tzu though). she actually sleeps either curled up on my pillow with me or right by our feet.

she gets bathed and groomed regularly and has free reign over the house!
