Photo Editing Software

I got a Macbook for Christmas. I just started playing around with Iphoto and Imovie. I actually just created a slideshow movie for a friend of mine and I thought it came out great. So now that I have the creative bug, I want to get a program that has cool effects for pictures and possibly video as well. If you have any of these programs, which do you use?

I have photoshop elements. It's the very cheap and basic version of photoshop. If you want to spend a lot so you can do a lot, I say go with photoshop.

You can get 'photoshop for dummies' this helps immensely

I learned how to use photoshop, pagemaker and illustrator in college and bought elements about a year after I graduated. I actually had a class on desktop publishing, so I knew how to use it when I got it. It's pretty easy, but I definitely recommend the photoshop for dummies book too!
