Did anyone have to pay extra to have any of their pics 'retouched'?

Re: Photography Question
Our package did not include any enlargements but I think it costs more if we want something done to the picture rather than a regular 8x10 straight from the negative. Hope that helps a little.

Re: Photography Question
I think it depends on how much retouching you want and the ability of the photographer's ability to do the retouching.
If the retouching needs to be sent out to a lab, the photographer has to pay for that service and then bill you.
If it's from a digital picture, I think retouching should be included since it can be done (or should be done) in house.

Re: Photography Question
Well, I just found out that it will cost me extra money, b/c (and I didn't know this - I should have asked - my mistake) he sends his film out; doesn't do it himself. So, I have to figure out what pics I want 'fixed'. However, I was told that AFTER my album is complete, I can have the negatives. Does that make sense?

Re: Photography Question
I didn't have to pay to have pictures retouched as long as there was a flaw in the pictures - not like I wanted them to take something off a picture (I know some people want something in the background removed). A few of my pictures came out with spots or lines that were not noticable on the proof and they fixed them for me - whether they were in the album or my enalrgements.
Edited - Yes it makes sense to get your negatives after the album is completed because that is what he needs to make the albums. My photographer gave me all negatives once my books and enlargements were complete and the balance was taken care of.

Re: Photography Question
It makes sense then since he has to pay someone else to do the retouching that he charges you. Of course he could have mentioned it when you were working on your contract
You aren't talking about cropping right? That should be free and I would fight a charge for that.
He needs the negatives to do the albums. It's nice that he's giving them to you, some photogs charge for it. When you get them, ask for a release letter giving you permission to make reprints from them.

Re: Photography Question
That's what I was thinking - that he could have at least told me this, as it seems a common thing that a bride would want. Oh well...
No, not cropping - just an 'adjustment' in the color. Some of the pics the color is off - and also, I wanted some additional color added to my face in some of the pics. I was told (not by him) that the photographer can fix this with the negative. But, then, as I said, I just found out that he doesn't do his own film. So, that explains that...
A release letter? That's an excellent idea. Thanks so much! I will!

Re: Photography Question
I'm going next Saturday to sit down with my photographer...there are a few pics that I'd like to see if they can retouch...they send their pics out...so they may want to charge me.
I'll see how much they're looking for to do this...nothing I want retouched is that critical so I may wind up retouching none of the pics.
I've got another question...I'm not sure if my photog will give me the negs...haven't asked for them yet...but has anyone ever made copies of their pics (like scanning them and printing them) without a release letter???
I will ask for one of these once I see my photog next week...

Re: Photography Question
Franskbride..I think you can get the negatives from your photographer, I get mine 6 months after my album is in. I did have to scan some over to my mom to see which pics she wanted and they didnt scan good, came up looking very digital

Mine told me that it is really very expensive. So, I will be very selective with the ones I choose to retouch. I, too, will be getting the release letter.

Re: Photography Question
I had plenty of retouching, and some of it we had to pay for, some of it we didn't.
It all depended on weather or not I could convince my photographer that a particular problem with the picture was his own fault, and on most of them it was his fault! Don't even get me started!
For example, if you have weird shadows all over you chest because the lighting guy didn't know what he was doing, than you shouldn't have ot pay for retouching. If you want a scar retouched, than you should pay.
