Other than my ears, I've never had any other piercings. But, I'm thinking of getting a belly button ring once I flatten my tummy (it's an incentive to reach this personal goal of mine).
Who's had it done? How much does it cost, are there potential complications, etc.
Also, I'm thinking of getting a small tattoo but not sure if it's better to get after having kids so I don't have to worry about it stretching - anyone have advice on that?
Thanks!

Re: Piercing & Tattoo questions!
i got my belly button pierced when i was 15.. i begged my mom to take me and she finally did.. i honestly dont remember what so ever if it hurt or not.. i think i remember saying THATS IT? but i have an issue with seeing my own blood.. and i tried to change the hoop to soon and i started to bleed.. then 10 seconds later i passed out.. i lived to tell the story.. it reall wasnt all that bad im just a wuss!! i love it though..and im concerned that when i get preggo that ill have to take it out then be too chicken to redo it! i say go for it!!!
i also have a hand full of tattos and they are great. my suggestion is to make sure its something you can look at forever!! make sure it has meaning! and it really doesnt matter about getting preggo. unless its right on your tummy.

it depends where you get the tattoo. if its in your abdominal area or boob area...then yes you should wait...but I got mine on my right hip/ thigh...which could stretch but I am very petite...this is the biggest I've ever been and its not in my genes to get bigger in the thighs...nor will I allow it to get that out of hand. You have to know your body.

thanks for the feedback! If I get a tattoo it won't be on the tummy but I was thinking somewhere fleshy like the hip so it won't hurt as much as say, the ankle would. But I'm worried the hip area may stretch with pregnancy. I'm going to do some research online and see what I come up with too.

well the hip area your skin can stretch a little when pregnant. My friend has several tats and the one by her hip hurt the most,, depending where on your hip it can be close to bone, also depends on your body. Ive had it on my lower back though on the area where it wasn't fleshy and didn't hurt though.
To be honest with you though, I didn't really feel pain. It was more of this annoying feeling for just a few short seconds and thats it but other than that I was fine. They don't keep the needle on you continuously, its on for a few seconds, they let go then back again so the moment you do start to feel it, they let go anyways so doesn't matter. The truth is that it bothered me more AFTER the tattoo was all done. After I felt this very hot sensation and that was the worst part to me.

Re: Piercing & Tattoo questions!
i have my belly button pierced & it was the least painful piercing ever!! (i have 12 more) the main complication with the belly button is that it rubs up against a lot so there is more of a risk it can get infected... but dont let that stop you - it will most likely get infected sooner or later... i feel like all of my piercings have at one point - just make sure to clean it & be mindful of wearing tight clothing and watch where you lean it (lol sounds funny - but the WORST infection i got was after i had laid on the ground setting up christmas decorations and my shirt lifted up a little bit & the next thing i knew, my belly ring was infected)
i also have 4 tats - one on my hip & it wasnt the most pleasant tats i've gotten. after a while, your skin goes numb so you cant feel anything anyways lol
good luck! FM me if you have any other questions!!!
here is my hip tat like seconds after the guy finished it so its still a little red... but u can get an idea of how big it was...
ETA: the middle of the heart is white... the red in the pic is blood - but i swear tats usually dont bleed that much lol
i get all my tats at Di Vincis in wantagh on sunrise hwy... i've gotten one at tattoo lous too - both VERY good places to go... but there are so many great places on LI.... my most expensive tat was the gymnast on my back which was $120... it really depends on how much detail/color you have in the tat
i got my belly ring when i was 16 in queens so i have no idea how much they go for these days

Re: Piercing & Tattoo questions!
I don't remember the cost of the naval peicing. It must be pretty cheap since I was able to afford back in college. The peircing itself did not hurt but it did afterwards, like the next day or 2 but still nothing compared to the tattoo. I orignally wanted my tattoo just below my waist line off to the side. My tattoo artist talked me out of it because it will stretch one day when I get preggo. I didn't want it on my arms or legs just in case it shows at work. I didn't want it on my back because I want to be able to see he. My tattoo artist convinced me to put it on my rib cage. It's the perfect location for me but it hurts like hell.

Do you know what kind of tattoo you want to get? Sometimes that will determine where it should or shouldn't go.

Re: Piercing & Tattoo questions!
I've had my belly ring since 2003 when i forst stared dating DH. he thought I wasn't going to get it done and thought I was too chicken.. It costed like $40 I think. I've had no complications. I only change it every few months, because I heard the more you play and change it the more risk for infections. I also clean it everyday in the shower and weekly with bacitracin. HTH

Re: Piercing & Tattoo questions!
belly button ring the piercing part was fine no pain, no problem at first then I gained 5 lbs then it felt a bit stretched then i gained more then i had to take it out because it was ripping and red. SO its fine if you don't flip flop weight wise i can go up and down 10lbs easily in a month.
Honestly the most painful piercings I have ever gotten was a- nips b-septum, both are out now but I am thinking of getting my side of my nose done again or put my two eyebrow bars in again.
tatts never got them probably never will. I get bored and change up a lot and the only things i ever loved was art/photo/paintings and to put real art on your body takes time and money and can't be small, dh has plenty of tatts - small ones are painful but less time. Also depends where you are getting it.
My friends who got prego and have tatts gained 30lbs and snapped pretty much back and the tatts look great, only exception is on their sides they have stretch marks running through them but they are VERY faded since they used coco cream. DO NOT get anything on your stomach - sorry it will never go back unless you have great genetics. Best thing is upper back/arms/neck and the small of your back and of course legs unless they are upper part of your leg (i have seen messes of that when you get aged with a tatt).

Re: Piercing & Tattoo questions!
Hey! I am glad you posted about this! I have a belly ring and have been wondering if theyrl r still on. I still like mine and really don't want to take it out ever!
Anyway I got it like 11 years ago and think it was like 30 bucks. It took a long long time to heal, like 6 months and got irritated from my jeans rubbing it. However low rise jeans weren't in at that time and I feel if u have low rise now u r better off! Good luck and let us know how it goes!
