Places to have drinks/yummy appetizers in NYC?

One of my favorite after work spots in the city is Stout on 33rd between Broadway and 7th ave.

It's fun and very convenient because it's right outside Penn Station.

stout is great! the food is decent & if ur a beer girl they make all their own brews! only thing is it can get CROWDED after work. but i actually heard they opened up the downstairs now...which may leave more space???

stout is really good!!! they have a TON of beers to choose from, and the last couple of time i went the downstairs was open. i also tend to go when there's an event going on at MSG, which makes it super crowded! across from stout there's Joe O's which is usually less crowded, but they don't have the selection stout does (beer wise anyway).

just found this place too....thursday looks like a good deal too!

ps: Has anyone been to Stitch on 37th??? i really liked this place.... great drinks & a cool atmosphere...it's also bi-level so it doesn't get TOO crazy crowded...u can also reserve space upstairs...

ps: Twelve (or rather 'X11') is another good one...it's on East 34th. went to Stout & then hopped over there on DH's bday a year or two back & have gone back a few times since....) also, what about just going to applebees or fridays???? lol yea i know - GAY. but who cares???

LMAO I am all for Fridays. I like their food but I wanted to know what other people thought, if there was anywhere 'cooler' to go to. I just want to avoid CRAZY crowds because then we are goign to be shouting across the table at one another and that is retarded for a first time meeting.

This one on Wednesday is $3 cosmos on Wednesday too. WOOO Thursday is still %4 so thats pretty good also.

My only worry with a bar is of course the crowding. But lets just throw out all the ideas and then we can vot on it.

honestly stitch will probably be crowded..... Stout is a great place - and the other place looks neat too.... i just want to be able to sit at an actual table & not stand around & barely be able to talk to each other lol.

Exactly. I remember for ym bachelorette party I HATED that. I know you're supposed to mingle and have fun but I prefer dinner and drinks in resturant style places if I am going there to talk and get to know people. Too much noise and crowdign just gives me a headache.

Ok so our top choices so far are...

-Stout
-Coppersmith
-TGI Fridays

o'connoly's think theres one b/t madison and 5th on 46th street..

a girl here at work goes for taco tuesdays at calicos.. think its two free tacos for every margarita.. but that can be dangerous!

well the thing is it's the first time most of us are meeting...once we actually know each other, standing around in a bar or even a dancing atmosphere is cool. but i wanna get to know all u lovely ladies! i'd much rather be able to sit, talk, drink my yummy drink, laugh, etc...

Is it just Tuesdays? We're looking at a Thursday. tuesdays don't work well for me because so early in the week throws my schedule off.

well if all else fails there's a Friday's on 34th & 8th, and an Applebees and Olive Garden right in Time Square

LOL Im selfish. I am not a drinker at all (More than one drink gets me sick to my stomach) so I just want there to eb good munchiens weherever we go lol. Because I WILL be munching!
